Andalou Naturals 1000 Roses Sensitive Skin Line

I was recently contacted by Andalou Naturals and asked to partner with them to help spread the word about their incredible company and to celebrate Non-GMO Awareness Month for October 2014! Andalou Naturals was the first 100% Non-GMO Project Verified beauty brand and that is something to be VERY proud of indeed. They are also the premier manufacturer of innovative fruit stem cell-based skin, body, and hair care. I am so excited to share my thoughts about the products I was sent and also to let you know of the generosity of this very special Brand. Andalou Naturals has offered 25% off your entire order (for BeautybyBritanie readers!!)  during the whole month of October with this special promotion code at checkout:  nongmo14.

With this campaign they specifically want to educate the public to the importance of accurate ingredient labeling. When we as consumers think of GMOs, food is often what comes to mind.  Andalou Naturals want to point out that crops grown for personal care products and food are from the same farm and whether topically applied and absorbed through the skin or ingested directly as food, GMO crop effects on human health and the environment are of great concern! They put tremendous value on knowing where their ingredients come from. From the farmers who grow them, and connecting the human chain of hands that make every step possible for labeling transparency.

Look at these credentials! Andalou Naturals is: Certified Organic, Natural Origin,  Vegetarian + Vegan, Gluten Free, Cruelty Free, Bioactive, Fair-Trade and has Eco-Friendly Practices. Yes, and I do think this is a very admirable company (if you can’t tell!).

Beauty Obsession: Zweena Argan Beauty Elixirs

png;base646660db104444aad2

‘Zweena means “beautiful” in Moroccan Arabic and brings together our love for ancient beauty traditions, pure natural ingredients, sustainable harvesting and support of women in fair-trade cooperatives.’

The beautiful and creative Jayme Barrett, author of Feng Shui Your Life, (a favorite book of mine) has always believed in helping people simplify and energize their spaces and lives. So it naturally follows that she would eventually discover a way to simplify women’s beauty routines. And I’m happy to say she has done just that for me. You may actually remember a post I did over a year ago dedicated to Zweena. This was before they changed their packaging and added new products into their line. I have to say, I didn’t think the packaging or products could get any better but they have. I am truly head over heels in love with this brand and every product in it.

Welcome to Zweena Body Care….

Brand Spotlight: BEAUTYCOUNTER

I’m happy today to share with you details about an innovative company that I’ve recently discovered: BeautyCounter. This business creates safe and effective skin care and cosmetics and  was created not only out of a desire to be 100% transparent in ingredients, be environmentally conscious, but also to raise the bar in health standards to the highest in the personal care industry. They have done just that and more. Oh, and I forgot to mention the products really work!

Botanical Me

I’m so excited to introduce you to two very inspirational sisters, Jill and Carly the founders of Botanical Me. Botanical Me is a collection of vibrant aromatherapy products inspired by the unique healing plants of Africa. This brand was born in 2012 out of an ephiphany from a conversation between Jill and her husband (a native of Nigeria and a Malaria survivor). That light bulb moment sparked her to team up with her sister, Carly.

They used their nine years of aromatherapy business experience to source, design and formulate the Botanical Me collection. The “botanical sisters” intention was to create a natural body care and aromatherapy company that would contribute part of their proceeds to support malaria prevention and treatment in Africa. They partnered with, Malaria No More. This organization supports prevention programs and treatments in communities. Jill and Carly want their donations to potentially save thousands of children’s lives and help with the education and ultimately the eradication of this devastating disease. The “Me” to the Botanical-me is short for Malaria Eradication!

Their motto is, “Natural body care that inspires, heals and gives back!”. I think this is some pretty admirable stuff! It is so incredible to me when a company can use their combined ingenuity to create a brand that not only give us clean and green beautiful beauty products, but that can turn their passion for helping into reality! Win and win, again!

Now on to the innovative products that are my favorites…

My Top Four: Favorite Affordable Facial Oils

fav

To say that I am a lover of facial oils would be a drastic understatement. I truly adore my oils and although I have quite the collection, I still am always lusting after more. There is no such thing as too many oils! With that said, I have a large collection of oils that are more on the expensive side and I know that it’s not realistic for everyone to spend $50-$100 on a small bottle of oil every few months. I do think some oils are worth the extra money and if you are interested in knowing what my favorite less-affordable but brilliantly amazing facial oils are then I will definitely make a post on those!

I get asked a lot which oils are great for the face but will not cost an arm and a leg. I have compiled a list of these top four oils which are all easily available, affordable and incredibly effective. I also chose all of these oils because in my opinion they are the best for all skin types. This list is in no particular order of favorites!!

  1. Badger Damascus Rose Antioxidant Face Oil ($15.27) – This is the most expensive oil of the bunch (still affordable!) and most definitely the most delicious smelling and decadent as well. It smells like a flower garden and is incredibly relaxing. It always gives my skin a beautiful glow and is very moisturizing. It is highly absorbent, antioxidant-rich and contains healing oils like Jojoba, Baobab, Pomegranate and more! This face oil is ideal for dry, mature or combination skin, but can be used on all skin types.
  2. Acure Organics Argan Oil ($13.49) – Coined as “liquid gold”, this is by far the most effective and affordable Argan Oil out there. It is 100% organic, rich in Vitamin E, Essential Fatty Acids and is lightweight and easily absorbed! This oil is not only great for the face, but I also love to use it on my cuticles, hands, and hair!
  3. Sibu Beauty Seabuckthorn Oil ($9.98) – I don’t usually like to choose favorites but I have to say that this is definitely my favorite out of the bunch. In-fact, Seabuckthorn Oil (berry & seed) is now my every day staple. It keeps eczema at bay and reduces redness. Seabuckthorn Seed Oil has been long used as a topical treatment to aid relief of skin conditions like eczema, acne, rosacea, dermaitits, age spots, you name it! It is truly an incredibly healing oil that I can never be without. I have literally gone through five bottles of this oil because I use it day and night!
  4. Aura Cacia Jojoba Oil ($12.12) – Jojoba Oil is the first oil I recommend to anyone who is starting out in the world of facial oils. Why? because it is it is nearly identical in chemical structure to the natural oils in skin and hair, and therefor is easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue. Here’s another interesting fact: Jojoba Oil is not actually an oil, but a wax :) It also seems to be the the oil that responds best with all skin types from dry to sensitive to oily or acne-prone. It’s a staple-oil that I think everyone should have in their home!

Have you tried any of these Facial Oils? What are YOUR favorite affordable oils?

Britanie

Meet my new favorite day cream

antii2

When it comes to day creams and moisturizers I have had the hardest time finding “the one”. I don’t have an issue with nighttime moisturizing as I reserve most of my oils for nighttime. When it comes to day I prefer to wear a cream or moisturizer that will help my dry and sensitive and easily reactive skin, but not leave over a greasy residue. I also look for a cream without SPF. This might seem like a huge no-no to many of you but for me I prefer to use sunscreen in my mineral makeup or applied on top of my cream. I don’t want to HAVE to wear SPF as it tends to irritate my skin, even the natural ones. I prefer it when I can choose to use a sunscreen on it’s own or over top of a cream.

Next up is scent. Scent is a huge thing for me. I can’t handle overly scented products but I also really enjoy having some type of relaxing scent when I apply my cream… it’s more of a ritualistic thing for me.

Enter my new favorite day cream…

Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Day Cream

Yes, you read it correctly, VANILLA POD. When I first heard the name I wanted it (if you didn’t know already, I am a Vanilla addict) and then when I saw it contained Manuka Honey I was sold. Manuka Honey in a cream? without any stickiness? Brilliant.

I have been using this cream every single day and my skin is clearer, more hydrated and even glowing. I also sometimes add a little bit at nighttime if I feel I need added moisture after my oils. It sinks into the skin IMMEDIATELY. It almost gives a matte-look to the skin at first and then within a few minutes you’ll notice a glow to the cheeks. It wears beautifully underneath makeup. Also can I just say that the scent is perfection? If you are a vanilla fan you will love this, if you aren’t a vanilla fan I think you will still love this. It doesn’t have an overbearing vanilla scent. It has a subtle real vanilla scent with a hint of citrus to it. It’s divine to say the least.

Key Ingredients:

+ Manuka Honey acts as a healing, anti-wrinkle agent that has antibacterial prowess in addition to naturally astringent properties.

+ Rosehip Oil helps reduce the appearance of scars and wrinkles due to its naturally high concentrations of Vitamin A & C as well as essential fatty acids. Extracted from the seeds of the rosehip, this oil is a perfect skin moisturizer and conditioner. Moreover, it contains beta-carotene, which acts as an antioxidant in assisting the repair of parched and damaged skin.

+ Vinanza Grape’s many beauty benefits include assisting your skin with hydrating, smoothing and firming, as well as preventing moisture loss. Its plethora of other beauty benefits range from being an effective anti-wrinkle, healing and hydrating agent, to also showing antibacterial and astringent properties. Independent clinical trials have yielded truly extraordinary results in showing Vinanza Grape improving elasticity and firmness in the skin by 16%*.

This Eco Lux pure skincare line was created on beautiful Bainbridge Island off the coast of Washington State. I’m really loving this entire line, which I would describe as being incredibly delicate, gentle and really effective. My skin has been drinking these beautiful ingredients right up! The line is not only gluten free (I’m gluten-sensitive) but uses certified organic and Demeter Biodynamic ingredients! There will be a discount code at the end of this review! [Read more...]

Rose Love

roses

I don’t know what it is but lately I just can’t seem to get enough of Rose. Rose tea, Rose water, Rose oil, Rose-scented anything (as long as it’s not that artificial smelling rose – eek). I actually dedicated an entire post to my love for roses called “Beauty and health benefits of roses”.  I shared the benefits of this beautiful flower but wanted to reiterate some of the many amazing benefits of smelling, drinking, bathing and moisturizing in this flower…

Blue Orchid Botanicals – Mind.Body.Soul Vegan Skin Therapy

The lovely Falon Thomas created this holistic skincare line after the birth of her second daughter who had atopic dermatitis. She was fully inspired to  use her accumulated knowledge and benefits of living a naturally centered and plant based lifestyle for herself and her family. She transitioned into a wellness warrior!

Falon extensively researched herbalism, extracts, and natural ingredients, and then began experimenting with the recipes that would become her product line at Blue Orchid Botanicals. I love her commitment and passion!

I have always believed that whole, natural wellness starts within. My motto is mind, body, soul skin therapy because our state of mind is the source of positive patterns. Beauty is brilliant because it’s state relies on the individual.

When Falon asked me to try two of her products, I was very excited! And here is what I received…

Pelle Beauty Luxe Beauty Oil

Let me start out by saying, I love, love, LOVE Pelle Beauty’s newest addition to her performance based skincare line, LUXE Beauty Oil! I reviewed the Pelle Beauty Stellar Oil last year and although I love and recommend that oil, I have to say that the Luxe oil has completely stolen my heart.

One of my favorite flowers in the world is Jasmine. The scent is so unique and some of the flower’s power comes in its ability to deeply relax as well as lift depression. Just as significant is that the essential jasmine oil can boost confidence AND improve skin elasticity. Wow, that’s pretty impressive!

Take a look at some of the other powerhouse ingredients:

Cucumis Sativus Oil, Limnanthes alba (Meadow foam) Seed Oil, Oryza sativa (rice) bran oil, Caprylic/capric triglyceride,  Oribignya (Babassu) Oleifera oil, Citrus aurantium amara (Neroli) flower oil, Jasminum sambac (jasmine) oil, Rosa damascena flower oil, Cananga odorata (Ylang Ylang) flower oil, Fusanus spicatus (sandalwood) oil.

Benefits of this beauty oil:

  • Luxe Beauty Oil is an exceptional deep penetrating & healthful way to revive your skin. A natural anti-aging beauty oil containing 10 plant-based floral extracts & botanicals to refine, restore & revitalize lackluster complexions. Stunning results for all skin types.
  • Luxe contains high doses of Omega 3’s, essential fatty acids & Vitamin E to naturally preserve elasticity & improve your skins appearance. Your complexion is protected, nourished & happy. Luxe intensely moisturizes yet is lightweight for all skin-types. Our potent essential oil blend works double duty to provide both an indulgent aromatherapy experience and radiant complexion.

Created by the beautiful Marnie Cipriani, this Vegan friendly line delivers what it promises. Marnie said it perfectly,

“We create skincare that is simple, straightforward and easy to use. We believe in making the most natural products we can while ensuring that they’re luxurious, safe and effective. We use the finest plant based ingredients and essential oils available to keep you gorgeous!”

I’ve been using Luxe for three months now and I have to say this is an exceptional aromatic jewel of a product. When I opened the bottle (I know this seems overly dramatic…but you have to take my word for it until you experience it for yourself) I felt like I was immediately transported to a field of pure white jasmine buds! There is real magic in the synergy of pure Jasmine and Neroli.

unnamed2

Now on to the performance. “Renew, restore, revitalize“, yes it definitely does! I use Luxe at night after my routine of cleansing and toning, I add two to three drops of this nectar on my hands to warm it up. I then use upward circular light strokes until my face, neck and décolleté have absorbed all the loveliness in.  My winter dry, overly reactive skin drinks this right up. Remember that a little goes a very long way!

Another two favorite ways that I enjoy this Queen of the Pelle Beauty line is to use it as a perfume. Put a few drops behind your ears and on your wrists. And/ or after shampooing your locks, when hair is still damp, rub a few drops on the ends of your hair and let air dry. This oil makes your hair shine and I probably don’t have to mention that when you walk by your significant other or anybody thats in your close proximity, a compliment is probably going to follow.

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, this is the perfect time for a personal splurge. Marnie has offered a discount code to my readers. Just use the code “BBB15″ for 15% off of your purchase (can be applied to any Pelle Beauty purchase.)
