Fashion Friday | Wildlife Works — Fashion That Saves Wildlife

IMG_2865x copy

This week I humbly bring you the wonderful and inspiring Wildlife Works. I originally started corresponding with Wildlife Works and was sent this amazing shirt more than a few months ago but have been so busy with moving to a new house and organizing that it took me awhile to get these photos up. I decided to pair this outfit with some beautiful handmade and eco-friendly jewelry from the lovely The Hemp Butterfly who I recently mentioned on my blog. The weather is finally starting to get warmer and it was so beautiful out today.

I love to be able to feature unique, beautiful and creative things and it’s an added bonus and honor when the brand and product I am featuring is going to a wonderful cause.

Wildlife Works is Consumer Powered Conservation In Action.

*Protecting + Wildlife + Forests + Community since 1997
I am humbled to model a shirt that is not only one of the most comfortable and cutest shirts I own but that is also helping the wildlife. I want to spread the word about how important it is to get involved with companies who genuinely care about what they are doing and who have a passion for something that goes much deeper than just creating clothes for style purposes.
They have so many amazing selections from t-shirts to sweaters. I plan to purchase this shirt next! You can wear Wildlife Works clothes proudly, knowing that any amount of money you spent on the clothes are going to help the wildlife! It’s a great way to do good while also wanting to look fashionable :)
I wanted to show that you can wear this shirt multiple ways. I like to tuck it into high-waisted skirts or leave it out – it really depends on what look you are going for. I also like to wear this shirt with black leggings or skinny jeans!

Textile Triangle Oversized Tee – $48.00

The Textile Triangle Tee mimics the intricate aesthetic of traditional North African metal-thread embroidery, which is used in places like Tunisia to sew costumes for weddings and other ceremonies. 100% organic cotton and carbon neutral. Cut and sewn in Kenya, screen printed in San Francisco.

Wildlife Works first project was their wildlife reserve in Kenya, the 80,000-acre Rukinga Wildlife sanctuary, which is now the heart of their 500,000 acre Kasigau Corridor REDD project that protects an entire wildlife corridor between Tsayo East and West National Parks. This flagship wilderness projects now employs over 300 employees that includes rangers, land managers, seamstresses and greenhouse workers, all hired locally.

Wildlife Works’ EcoFactory (carbon neutral, of course) itself now employs over 50 local women and 5 local men who make their organic cotton fashion collection and other sustainable private label lines. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, they are also building schools, funding scholarships, improving agricultural practices, providing health care and adding to the betterment of the community as a whole. These jobs have radically changed the way the local community views wildlife. Before Wildlife Works, they saw wildlife as either bush meat or money. They were poaching, clear-cutting and rapidly destroying their natural environment. With Wildlife Works, they can earn enough to feed their families and send their children to school without killing wildlife or destroying their environment. The wildlife has become an asset to them worth much more alive than dead. The poaching has stopped and the animals are returning.

Wildlife Works’ mission is to harness the power of the global consumer to create innovative and sustainable solutions for wildlife conservation.

How You Can Help:

When you buy a Wildlife Works product, you become an agent for conservation. You’re wearing the brand that says you won’t sit quietly by while the last wild things in the last wild places disappear forever. We invite you to explore our world where wildlife thrives when you buy. Whether you buy Eco-friendly fashion or carbon credits, Wildlife Works turns all of your dollars into programs for saving endangered and threatened wildlife and preserving forests around the glove.

It’s a win-win where everyone benefits: wild animals +trees + the planet + local communities + you. Learn more about how you are helping save forests and wildlife around the world at

Face Of The Day | Natural Everyday Makeup

Untitled-1look copy

It’s no secret that I love makeup. What many don’t know is that on an every day basis I usually wear little to no makeup. I like to stick with Tinted Moisturizers especially in the winter months when my skin is extra dry and could use more moisture. This one from Josie Maran Cosmetics has been a favorite of mine for over a year now. It’s super hydrating and gives just the right amount of coverage without ever feeling too heavy. Full review to come soon.

I also don’t like to cover up every imperfection as I think it’s good to let your freckles and smile lines show through! We all have imperfections but there is no need to hide all of them! Don’t be afraid to go lighter on the makeup to showcase your natural beauty :)

With that said, I still like to add some coverage to even out my skin tone and to highlight specific areas on my face. A little bit of makeup can make you look instantly more awake and healthy! This has been my routine lately but I like to switch up what I am using every now and then to test out other products!

Makeup Used:

  1. Josie Maran Tinted Moisturizer in “Creme”
  2. Josie Maran Argan Illuminizer (mixed in with the tinted moisturizer for an added glow)
  3. Josie Maran Argan Color Stick in “Rosey” (used on cheeks and lips)
  4. Tarte Maracuja Concealer in “Light”
  5. Tarte Smooth Operator Powder
  6. RMS Beauty Cream Shadow in “Magnetic”
  7. Josie Maran Argan Triple Volume Mascara
  8. NYX Brow Pencil and Highlighter
