Makeup Look: Simple & Glowing Autumn Inspired

Autumn is almost upon us here in New England and I for one am super EXCITED. It’s my favorite season of all. Time for bringing out the chunky sweaters, gem colored scarves, dark lipsticks, leggings and stylish boots. To me it’s also a time for slowing things down a bit and going for walks in the woods, catching up on reading and lots of steaming hot cups of tea!

Today I created this super simple, yet glowing and sophisticated look that was autumn-inspired. Keep reading below to see all the products used and how I achieved this look!

(click on photos to see larger versions. You can also see a short video of me wearing this look here.)

Prep + Prime: I started out by moisturizing my skin using CV Skinlabs Calming Moisture Cream which is incredibly moisturizing for my dry skin and especially great before using mineral makeup as it will help the minerals to adhere to the skin so much easier and not look dry! I also misted my face with R.L. Linden & Co. Thousand Petal Beautifying Mist before and after my makeup to prime and set. The addictive scent of this just makes putting on makeup that much more enjoyable.

Correct + Conceal: I applied Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation in “Neutral 2″ using the #25 Foundation Brush all over my face and neck. I then applied Kari Grain’s Mineral Concealer to my under-eye area and on a few blemishes on my chin (hey hormones!). This mineral concealer works amazingly well for hiding blemishes, it also does a great job at lighting up my under eye area which is usually scary dark.

Bronze + Illuminate: To bring some color to my cheeks I applied Alima Pure Soft Plum Blush. I then applied a light layer of Alima Pure Lumina Shimmer Powder to the highest points of my cheekbones and down the bridge of my nose. For contour and all-over bronze I used Alima Pure Maracaibo Bronzer (perfect color for fair skin).

Eyes: This eye look couldn’t get much simpler. I applied a light wash of the Kari Gran Concealer over my lids to even out my skintone and then I applied Vapour Beauty Organics Mesmerize Eye Pencil and blended it out using the smudge-brush at the other end of the pencil. For lashes I applied two coats of the Lash Perfection Gel by PER-FEKT which I received from Citrine Beauty and have literally been obsessed with. Full Review to come soon.

Lips: I am wearing Mayberry Lipstick by Red Apple Lipstick. This color is obsession-worthy. So perfect for Fall.

Makeup Look: Gypsy Goddess

GODDESS

I recently came across this beautiful hair piece from asos that I had lost amongst my many hair accessories for quite some time. When I found it I felt really inspired to do a dramatic gypsy goddess look. Although it’s Spring here and bright lip colors are what’s “in”, I still like to rock a good dark lip every now and then!

GODDESS2

Prep + Prime: Start by moisturizing the skin with a light but hydrating oil. I used Sibu Beauty SeabuckthornSeed Oil and added a light layer of Antipodes Vanilla Pod Hydrating Cream (review here) on top.

Correct + Conceal: To combat my stubborn dark circles I applied Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation in “Like Porcelain” (review here) to the under eyes and on the eyelids to act as an eyeshadow primer. I also used the Kjaer Weis foundation as a concealer around any other areas that needed covering (ie: nose, chin). I blended everything out with a beauty blender.

Bronze + Illuminate: Who doesn’t want dewy skin? For an extra “glowy” look I dabbed RMS Beauty Living Luminizer (for those sensitive to coconut oil – I also use and love Ilia Beauty’s Polkadots & Moonbeams Illuminator) to the highest part of my cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and on my cupid’s bow. To add some color to my cheeks I blended RMS Beauty Buruti Bronzer (again if sensitive to coconut oil, try Ilia’s Sway Bronzer) and Lip2Cheek in “Smile” to the apples of my cheeks.

Eyes: I started off by applying a light layer of Red Apple Lipstick Eyeshadow in “Porcelain” all over my lid and brow-bone. I then applied Alima Pure Eyeshadow in “Orchid” all over the lid, making sure not to go into the crease. For my crease color I used Red Apple Lipstick’s Pressed Eyeshadow in the color “Vamp”. I blended all three colors together and lined just the outer part of my eye with the Zuzu Luxe Liquid Eyeliner. To bring out the purple from the Alima Pure eyeshadow I applied two coats of Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara in “Aubergine” and added false lashes using EcoTools non-toxic glue.

Lips: I prepped my lips with Dr. Bronner’s Organic Lipbalm and added two layers of Ilia Beauty “Ink Pot” Lipstick. I used the actual lipstick to line my lips before coloring in.

Makeup Look: Dramatic Winged Eyeliner + Pretty Pink Lips!

Hi Loves!

I apologize for my absence lately. Sometimes you need to just “unplug” yourself and I felt like I needed a break from the internet and took some time for myself. I originally had posted a photo of me on instagram mentioning this look and said it would be up in a few days and I really apologize for the delay. Many of you were curious as to what I used to achieve such a dramatic eyeliner look and I think you will be surprised at how few products it took to achieve this glamorous look.

Makeup Look: Green & Gray Smokey Eyes and Light Pink Lips

I recently received some beautiful all-natural pressed eye shadows from Red Apple Lipstick that I have been absolutely loving. I paired together some green and gray tones to create this Smokey-eye look with a slight winged liner to add some more depth and drama. I paired the eyes with a light pink lip and coral cheeks. Makeup Look: Dark Red Lips and Lots of Lashes!

IMG_0202x

I recently did an entire green beauty look for Organic Beauty Talk and I wanted to also share it on my blog as I think it’s a perfect look to wear with Valentine’s Day approaching! The dark lip is perfect for a sexy night out.

For this look I wanted to do something dramatic and yet wearable for this winter season. I combined a purple silvery eye shadow with some dark browns to balance out the color, warm rosy cheeks with a subtle glow, and of course, dark lips to complete the look! I’m also wearing some new false lashes from EcoTools and am very excited that they have a non-toxic eyelash glue. Finally, I can wear false lashes again without having to compromise my health standards. Of course, the lashes are optional but I like them on special occasions to add a little more drama to the entire look.

Face Of The Day: Lady In Red

I recently received some new makeup products from three all-natural brands (Modern Minerals Makeup, Genfiore Cosmetics and Red Apple Lipstick) that are all equally amazing and full of clean and pure ingredients. I am excited to showcase the incredible pigment in all three of these brands in this look that I put together. I hope you all enjoy it!

eyeeee

britttt

I only used four brushes (the eyeliner brush is not pictured above) for this entire look all from Modern Minerals Makeup. I am incredibly impressed with the quality of these brushes, they are soft and pack a lot of pigment!

Skin: I started by moisturizing my face with Evanhealy Whipped Shea Olive Leaf and then prepped my face with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector.

Face & Cheeks: Modern Minerals Light Almond Foundation, Modern Minerals Heaven Blush with Genfiore Cosmetics Hydrasheer Pressed Mineral Blush in the color “Passion Rose” on top and used as a light contour. I used the same brush to apply all of these colors; the Modern Minerals Duo Fiber Skunk Brush.

Eyes: I started by applying Modern Minerals Oasis Eyeshadow (a gorgeous Turquoise + Teal color) all over the lid of my eye using the Duo Fiber Mini Round Brush and then lightly blended the same color into the crease using the Duo Fiber Tapered Blending Brush. To add more of a bright pop of color I applied Genfiore Mineral Pressed Eye Color in Mare Azzurro to the center part of my eyelid, I applied this using my finger because this picks up much more product and gives more pigmentation. To add some light to my inner eyes and browbone I applied Modern Minerals Seychelles Eyeshadow (a light shell pink). To finish the eye look I applied a tiny bit of Genfiore Hydrasheer Cream Eyeliner in Black using the Modern Minerals Duo Fiber Angle Brush to the outer part of my eye.

Lips: I wanted to make my lips stand out but not take away from the dramatic eye color so I decided to use a beautiful raspberry tinted gloss: Red Apple Lipstick Lipgloss in Queen Of Hearts has a wonderful shine to it and it also smells like spearmint!

Green Beauty Makeup Look and Healthy Expectations

Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying 2014 so far. I’m back with my first makeup look for 2014!

I wanted to quickly talk about healthy expectations. With the pressure so many of us put on ourselves for New Years Resolutions, let’s each begin with a few important small steps. Changing over just one mainstream makeup item for a new clean product. Drinking an extra glass of water. Having a healthy vitamin packed green smoothie for breakfast to start our day right. Making an honest effort to keep our thinking positive. Smiling and laughing more. Just begin now. You’ll be amazed at what you will have accomplished within just one week.

Now onto the makeup… :)

Get This Look:

1. I prepped my face with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector and then applied the new Kjaer Weis Foundation in the color “Like Porcelain”. I started out using the Kjaer Weis Foundation Blush to apply to smaller areas on my face like around my nose and my eyes. I then blended everything out with a damp Beauty Blender.

2. Instead of adding a blush I decided to mix together my RMS Beauty Buruti Bronzer and Living Luminizer which created a very subtle warm glow to the cheeks, cheekbones and temples.

3. For the eyes I used the Bdellium Tools Green Bambu Smoky Eye Brush Kit to apply two colors from the Jane Iredale Glamour Eye & Lip Palette and Kjaer Weis Wisdom Eyeshadow. I started with RMS Beauty Living Luminizer as an eyelid primer and base all over the lid using my fingers. I then applied Wisdom (a metallic taupe shimmer) with the 777B Shadow Brush and lightly applied Merlot (a matte eggplant color) to the crease of my eyes with the 781B Crease Brush and blended really well. I then used a 760B Liner Brush to apply the Zuzu Luxe Raven Liquid Liner. Using a liner brush can help to give you a more sturdy line. To make my eyes pop I added Hush (a sheer shimmer pink color) to the inner corners of my eyes using the 716 Smoky Eyeliner Brush. I curled my lashes, applied one coat of Kjaer Weis Mascara and applied EcoTools Eyelashes

4. For my brows I used the Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit in the color “Brunette”.

5. For my lips I wanted to use one of my absolute favorite lip products and colors: Kjaer Weis Sensuous Plum Lip Tint – it gives the perfect almost nude plum tint to the lips and I found that W3LL People Paganist Lipgloss in #2 wears very well over top! It adds a warm glow to the plum that is very flattering.

Happy Holidays + Mulberry Wine Makeup Look

15xx

Happy Holidays Everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I wanted to do a quick post showing the makeup look I wore last night. I had been wanting to try out a lip product from Bite Beauty for quite some time so when I recently stopped by Sephora I decided to check out some of their lipsticks. When I was browsing through all of the different lip colors, I was instantly drawn to the color Mulberry. I swatched it on my hand and fell in love. I couldn’t wait to put this deep wine color on my lips! This color inspired me to do a very quick holiday-inspired look before heading out to celebrate Christmas Eve. All photos were taken with my iphone so I apologize for the quality!

Bite Beauty’s lipsticks are formulated WITHOUT – Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan. They are free of synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts and made exclusively with lip nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat.

For this look I used Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes for my face and Bdellium Tools Green Bambu Smokey Eye Set for my eyes. I will specify which brushes used for each product below.

How I Achieved This Look:

13x

I started by priming my skin with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector

I then applied Kjaer Weis Foundation in “Like Porcelain” with the Pointed Foundation Brush to targeted areas that needed coverage (around my nose, chin, under eyes) I then blended out the foundation using the Buffing Brush. Used the Contour Brush to apply Kjaer Weis Desired Glow Blush on the apples of my cheeks. I also contoured with this blush using the Detailer Brush.

For the eyes I wanted to keep it neutral with the colors (since the lips are the main focus of this look) and do a slight winged out liner. For this I lightly brushed a pink color all over my lid using the 777B Shadow Brush, and then using the 781B Crease Brush I blended a light brown shadow to the crease of my eye. Both colors were from Jane Iredale’s Glamour Eye & Lip Palette. I lined my eyes with 100% Pure Black Tea Gel Liner to the top lash-line using the 760B Liner Brush.I also lightly swept the same brown color to the lower lash-line and applied Kjaer Weis Mascara to the lower lashes and Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara to the top. I filled in my eyebrows using Jane Iredale’s Bitty Brow Kit.

I lined my lips with BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in “Electrified” – (a royal plum) and then applied two layers of Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in “Mulberry” – (wine).

Organic Makeup Look: Holiday Rapture

Hello Green Beauties!

Today I’m sharing a really simple and classic look that is perfect for the Holidays!

I can’t believe it took me this long to discover the gorgeousness that is RMS Beauty’s “Rapture” Lip2Cheek. I’ve tried many other of the Lip2Cheek’s but recently received a sample of this color and decided to bring it out and I must say, I fell in love! It is the PERFECT red. Not too bright, not too dark. I would imagine this color would compliment anyone!

DSC_6179 copyxx

The rest of the look is very classic. I only used two eye shadows, one a light warm beige all over the lid and the other a darker cocoa brown to add depth to the eye. Liner and lashes are a big part of this look as they add a sexy and pin-up vibe to this look.

I used a black eyeliner pencil and lined the upper eyelid only. For the lower lash line I swept the same darker brown color that I used in my outer crease along the lower lash line. This is great for those who want to achieve a more “wide awake” look as black liner can tend to close the eyes if applied to the lower lashes.

I also used many (three!) coats of mascara on the upper and lower lashes. The red in the lip color is not too overwhelming and would be perfect for a Holiday look or an every day look :)
