Makeup Look: Dramatic Winged Eyeliner + Pretty Pink Lips!

Hi Loves!

I apologize for my absence lately. Sometimes you need to just “unplug” yourself and I felt like I needed a break from the internet and took some time for myself. I originally had posted a photo of me on instagram mentioning this look and said it would be up in a few days and I really apologize for the delay. Many of you were curious as to what I used to achieve such a dramatic eyeliner look and I think you will be surprised at how few products it took to achieve this glamorous look.

Makeup Look: Green & Gray Smokey Eyes and Light Pink Lips

I recently received some beautiful all-natural pressed eye shadows from Red Apple Lipstick that I have been absolutely loving. I paired together some green and gray tones to create this Smokey-eye look with a slight winged liner to add some more depth and drama. I paired the eyes with a light pink lip and coral cheeks. Keep reading to see which products I used and how to re-create this look :)

Makeup Look: Dark Red Lips and Lots of Lashes!

IMG_0202x

I recently did an entire green beauty look for Organic Beauty Talk and I wanted to also share it on my blog as I think it’s a perfect look to wear with Valentine’s Day approaching! The dark lip is perfect for a sexy night out.

For this look I wanted to do something dramatic and yet wearable for this winter season. I combined a purple silvery eye shadow with some dark browns to balance out the color, warm rosy cheeks with a subtle glow, and of course, dark lips to complete the look! I’m also wearing some new false lashes from EcoTools and am very excited that they have a non-toxic eyelash glue. Finally, I can wear false lashes again without having to compromise my health standards. Of course, the lashes are optional but I like them on special occasions to add a little more drama to the entire look.

Red Apple Lipstick in “Fierce” is… FIERCE.

IMG_0147,jpg

This beauty of a lipstick is described as a “bold red wine” purple shade. This lipstick can be worn dark or much lighter. You can see in the first photo wearing this it almost appears a bit red and in the second shown it looks much more purple. The shade varies on how you apply it and the lighting. The color looks chocolate brown in the tube but when applied it looks much more like a deep purple and sometimes a deep red purple. It harkens the 1920′s era.

I cannot get enough of this color. It actually makes me FEEL fierce when I wear it and we could all go for feeling a little more fierce in our day to day lives, right?!

This lipstick is a Satin finish and is – Gluten Free, Paraben Free, Nut/Tree Nut Free, Fragrance Free, Soy Free, and Toxin Free

You can purchase Fierce here for $23.50 and keep a look out for more looks using Red Apple Lipstick products. I am incredibly impressed with their lip and eye products!

Face Of The Day: Lady In Red

I recently received some new makeup products from three all-natural brands (Modern Minerals Makeup, Genfiore Cosmetics and Red Apple Lipstick) that are all equally amazing and full of clean and pure ingredients. I am excited to showcase the incredible pigment in all three of these brands in this look that I put together. I hope you all enjoy it!

britttt

I only used four brushes (the eyeliner brush is not pictured above) for this entire look all from Modern Minerals Makeup. I am incredibly impressed with the quality of these brushes, they are soft and pack a lot of pigment!

Skin: I started by moisturizing my face with Evanhealy Whipped Shea Olive Leaf and then prepped my face with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector.

Face & Cheeks: Modern Minerals Light Almond Foundation, Modern Minerals Heaven Blush with Genfiore Cosmetics Hydrasheer Pressed Mineral Blush in the color “Passion Rose” on top and used as a light contour. I used the same brush to apply all of these colors; the Modern Minerals Duo Fiber Skunk Brush.

Eyes: I started by applying Modern Minerals Oasis Eyeshadow (a gorgeous Turquoise + Teal color) all over the lid of my eye using the Duo Fiber Mini Round Brush and then lightly blended the same color into the crease using the Duo Fiber Tapered Blending Brush. To add more of a bright pop of color I applied Genfiore Mineral Pressed Eye Color in Mare Azzurro to the center part of my eyelid, I applied this using my finger because this picks up much more product and gives more pigmentation. To add some light to my inner eyes and browbone I applied Modern Minerals Seychelles Eyeshadow (a light shell pink). To finish the eye look I applied a tiny bit of Genfiore Hydrasheer Cream Eyeliner in Black using the Modern Minerals Duo Fiber Angle Brush to the outer part of my eye.

Lips: I wanted to make my lips stand out but not take away from the dramatic eye color so I decided to use a beautiful raspberry tinted gloss: Red Apple Lipstick Lipgloss in Queen Of Hearts has a wonderful shine to it and it also smells like spearmint!

Beauty Buzz | Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation

IMG_9761

I’m so excited to finally bring you my review of the new Kjaer Weis Foundation! I’ve been getting so many requests to do a full review. This was a long awaited launch. I know many of us we were biting our nails waiting for the debut. When I first heard that Kjaer Weis would be coming out with a foundation I knew that I had to try it. I’m a huge fan of their products. I have reviewed their Sensuous Plum Lip Tint as well as featured them in many Green Beauty Makeup Looks.

The Kjaer Weis Foundation contains Sweet Almond Seed, Coco, and Jojoba oils which make it very moisturizing but not greasy. I know the price of this foundation can be a little steep for some and I do understand that. It’s not easy to spend nearly $70 on a foundation that you’re not sure is going to do what it promises. I have been asked constantly, “but is it worth the price?”, my answer is always “absolutely.” Everything I’ve tried from Kjaer Weis has exceeded my expectations and this foundation is no exception. This foundation is now my new holy grail foundation!

The entire line of Kjaer Weis products is not only exquisite in the formulations, but the brilliant colors and the luxurious packing are really sparking a cult following. I admit it, I’m addicted. When you hold the jewelry like compact in your hands and twist it open to reveal the content, you’ll agree with me. There is nothing like it on the market! One of the greatest things about this foundation is that it looks like you are not wearing any foundation on your skin. It’s honestly quite magical.

Also, the design of refill packaging is genius. Once you purchase the compact you can then just buy the refills as  needed. This is a great money saving solution as well a great eco-friendly option.

The Color:

My color is the lightest shade, “Like Porcelain” which Kristen Kjaer Weis describes as being “Perfect for a fair, rosy complexion, Like Porcelain refines even the most sensitive, delicate skin.”

unnamed

Here I am wearing the Kjaer Weis Foundation in “Like Porcelain”

The Application:

You can apply this foundation with fingers, a beauty blender, the Kjaer Weis Foundation Brush. I personally like to apply the foundation first with the Kjaer Weis Foundation Brush where needed and then blend out using a damp Beauty Blender. I also prep my face with a moisturizer and if my skin is feeling particularly dry, a little oil or primer and then set with rosewater spray.

The Finish:

I have very dry skin and I have heard mixed reviews with this foundation concerning the finish. Some say it is drying while others say it is moisturizing. I personally find it to be a satin finish. It goes on creamy and then settles into a beautiful satin finish. This foundation doesn’t feel drying on my skin at all. With that said I always moisturize before applying foundation and if you have super dry skin I would recommend applying a primer beforehand. My favorite primer is Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector.

Ingredients:

prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) seed oil*, caprylic/capric triglyceride, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil*, zea mays (corn) starch*, cera alba*, copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax*,  simmondsia chinensis  (jojoba) seed oil*,  polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, non-gmo tocopheryl acetate.  may contain + / – : mica,  ci 77891,  ci 77491,  ci 77492,  ci 77499. *Certified Organic. This product is gluten-free.

You can purchase this foundation for $68 which includes the compact or you can purchase the refillable for $48 on Spirit Beauty Lounge (you can also purchase samples if you are unsure of what color you would be).

Britanie

Green Beauty Makeup Look and Healthy Expectations

Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying 2014 so far. I’m back with my first makeup look for 2014!

I wanted to quickly talk about healthy expectations. With the pressure so many of us put on ourselves for New Years Resolutions, let’s each begin with a few important small steps. Changing over just one mainstream makeup item for a new clean product. Drinking an extra glass of water. Having a healthy vitamin packed green smoothie for breakfast to start our day right. Making an honest effort to keep our thinking positive. Smiling and laughing more. Just begin now. You’ll be amazed at what you will have accomplished within just one week.

Now onto the makeup… :)

Get This Look:

1. I prepped my face with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector and then applied the new Kjaer Weis Foundation in the color “Like Porcelain”. I started out using the Kjaer Weis Foundation Blush to apply to smaller areas on my face like around my nose and my eyes. I then blended everything out with a damp Beauty Blender.

2. Instead of adding a blush I decided to mix together my RMS Beauty Buruti Bronzer and Living Luminizer which created a very subtle warm glow to the cheeks, cheekbones and temples.

3. For the eyes I used the Bdellium Tools Green Bambu Smoky Eye Brush Kit to apply two colors from the Jane Iredale Glamour Eye & Lip Palette and Kjaer Weis Wisdom Eyeshadow. I started with RMS Beauty Living Luminizer as an eyelid primer and base all over the lid using my fingers. I then applied Wisdom (a metallic taupe shimmer) with the 777B Shadow Brush and lightly applied Merlot (a matte eggplant color) to the crease of my eyes with the 781B Crease Brush and blended really well. I then used a 760B Liner Brush to apply the Zuzu Luxe Raven Liquid Liner. Using a liner brush can help to give you a more sturdy line. To make my eyes pop I added Hush (a sheer shimmer pink color) to the inner corners of my eyes using the 716 Smoky Eyeliner Brush. I curled my lashes, applied one coat of Kjaer Weis Mascara and applied EcoTools Eyelashes

4. For my brows I used the Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit in the color “Brunette”.

5. For my lips I wanted to use one of my absolute favorite lip products and colors: Kjaer Weis Sensuous Plum Lip Tint - it gives the perfect almost nude plum tint to the lips and I found that W3LL People Paganist Lipgloss in #2 wears very well over top! It adds a warm glow to the plum that is very flattering.

5 Things I’m Loving…

faceee

Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope you all had a happy and safe NYE and are enjoying the new year. I am here with my first post of 2014 and I am bringing you some of my current favorite products. Some I literally just started using a few days ago while others I have been using for the past month.

Kjaer Weis Foundation – I have been reaching for this foundation whenever I want a flawless finish. It’s absolutely beautiful. I am the color “Like Porcelain” and it’s literally the perfect match for my very fair skin. Spirit Demerson owner of one of my favorite online shopping destinations: Spirit Beauty Lounge put it perfectly when describing this new foundation when she said “it’s none of the shiny, heaviness of an oil-based foundation, but with all of the velvety coverage of one.  It applies like a thin veil yet still has significant coverage.  When I use it, I almost scratch my head like ‘how did that happen?” — exactly. Look out for a full review + swatches of this foundation coming very soon!

Mineral Fusion Concealer – I feel like when it comes to under eye concealers, I can never quite find “the one”. I have an especially hard time because I have severe dark circles and because my eye area is extra sensitive. Combine those things with the fact that I use only natural products and it makes it even harder to find a concealer that not only lasts but covers darkness well and doesn’t irritate my eyes. Enter my newest discovery and love: Mineral Fusion Duo Concealer. I found this at my local Whole Foods Market. I really love duo concealers. I love to mix the lighter peachy shade with the more pale pink shade to create the perfect coverage. I took a look at the ingredients and while it’s not as clean as I would ideally like (it contains Phenoxyethanol - ugh) it’s still clean enough for me. After ONE use of this concealer I was sold. hooked. in love. I can say (for now) that my search is over for the perfect under eye concealer. This baby is a keeper. I use the shade “Cool”

Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit – I really, really love this little brow kit. Not only does it come in the cutest packaging that’s super easy to travel with but it comes with a brow powder and wax. I actually recommended this product to May Lindstrom the other day when we were texting back and fourth about brow products and I told her that this is the one I use and recommend most. It shapes my eyebrows perfectly and does a great job of lasting all day. I use the color “Brunette”.

Organix Coconut Milk Shampoo – Okay so I literally just bought this shampoo yesterday. I know it seems crazy to mention a product after one use but honestly this stuff has made my hair look healthier in just ONE USE than it’s looked in a long time, not to mention how incredibly soft my hair is! I CAN’T STOP TOUCHING IT! I have been loyally using Rahua hair products and will continue to use them because they are truly the cleanest hair products I have found that really work amazingly well. The thing with Organix is that they are not as clean as I would like. They do contain “fragrance” which is not very comforting but they are free of a lot of nasties, including harsh sulfates. They are also extremely affordable and easy to find. It’s nice to have a shampoo that I know I can get at my local CVS. My best friend Nour actually recommended this product to me and after her description of it I literally went to the store that night and picked it up! This is definitely going to be my go-to affordable shampoo of choice. If you want instantly softer and shinier hair, GET THIS. It also smells like a tropical paradise in your bathroom after using this. Amazing.

Osmia Organics Active Gel Toner – I am trying to think of a way to describe my love for this toner without being too dramatic. I’m not sure I can do that. The first thing that comes to mind when I apply this serum every day is “how did I ever live without you?”  – seriously though, how? This cleared up a few breakouts I had within two days. It also is diminishing redness around my nose and keeping my skin super clear and glowing. Full review coming soon.

Happy Holidays + Mulberry Wine Makeup Look

15xx

Happy Holidays Everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I wanted to do a quick post showing the makeup look I wore last night. I had been wanting to try out a lip product from Bite Beauty for quite some time so when I recently stopped by Sephora I decided to check out some of their lipsticks. When I was browsing through all of the different lip colors, I was instantly drawn to the color Mulberry. I swatched it on my hand and fell in love. I couldn’t wait to put this deep wine color on my lips! This color inspired me to do a very quick holiday-inspired look before heading out to celebrate Christmas Eve. All photos were taken with my iphone so I apologize for the quality!

Bite Beauty’s lipsticks are formulated WITHOUT – Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan. They are free of synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts and made exclusively with lip nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat.

For this look I used Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes for my face and Bdellium Tools Green Bambu Smokey Eye Set for my eyes. I will specify which brushes used for each product below.

How I Achieved This Look:

13x

I started by priming my skin with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector

I then applied Kjaer Weis Foundation in “Like Porcelain” with the Pointed Foundation Brush to targeted areas that needed coverage (around my nose, chin, under eyes) I then blended out the foundation using the Buffing Brush. Used the Contour Brush to apply Kjaer Weis Desired Glow Blush on the apples of my cheeks. I also contoured with this blush using the Detailer Brush.

For the eyes I wanted to keep it neutral with the colors (since the lips are the main focus of this look) and do a slight winged out liner. For this I lightly brushed a pink color all over my lid using the 777B Shadow Brush, and then using the 781B Crease Brush I blended a light brown shadow to the crease of my eye. Both colors were from Jane Iredale’s Glamour Eye & Lip Palette. I lined my eyes with 100% Pure Black Tea Gel Liner to the top lash-line using the 760B Liner Brush.I also lightly swept the same brown color to the lower lash-line and applied Kjaer Weis Mascara to the lower lashes and Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara to the top. I filled in my eyebrows using Jane Iredale’s Bitty Brow Kit.

I lined my lips with BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in “Electrified” – (a royal plum) and then applied two layers of Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in “Mulberry” – (wine).
