What’s on my Wishlist…

I started my first wishlist a few weeks ago and told you that I planned to make this a regular part of my blog. I can’t say how often I will do these, pretty much whenever I feel like there are a lot of things I want, which is most of the time as I can never have enough beauty and health products!! The past few weeks have been really rough with health and personal issues and I’ve been trying to immerse myself in the things that give me any bit of joy and beauty products never fail to do that

HudieFly Marilyn Monroe-Themed Fashion Post + Giveaway!

Face Of The Day | Forever Pink

I recently did a little photoshoot modeling some amazing Marilyn Monroe themed shirts and the full blog post will be up on Monday. In the mean time I wanted to share the makeup that I wore for the shoot. I wanted to have really pink/rose tinted cheeks and matching lips and a classic winged eyeliner. This lip and cheek stain from Jane Iredale is seriously amazing. I will be showing it in an upcoming video tutorial soon. It is the most beautiful shade that adjusts to your skin tone.

PRODUCTS USED:

I applied one layer of tinted moisturizer which for me is the perfect amount of coverage and is great for the warmer months. I then dabbed the slightest bit of the Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain on my cheeks and blended in with my fingers. I used the same stain for my lips and the color seriously lasted hours without moving at all! For my eyes I used a satin matte black eyeliner to line my eyes and also as an eyeshadow and blended it with a white eyeshadow stick.

The weather is getting warmer here in New York and that means the sun is shining and it is time to add extra sun protection!

I will only use the purest of natural sunscreens as most mainstream sunscreens can contain ingredients that can actually CAUSE (NOT PROTECT) you from skin cancer! There are many debates about this but I suggest you do your own research and make your own conclusions. I personally have done a lot of reading on the subject and feel much more comfortable using sunscreens that contain natural ingredients rather than using a product that is supposed to help prevent against cancer and yet contains ingredients that can lead to cancer. My Thoughts: I love both of these sunscreens but I use them for different areas. The Eco Formula Lotion is my favorite for applying on my body because it’s thick but sinks in to the skin wonderfully. I do find it can be a tad too thick for my face, especially if I am wearing makeup but if I do wear it on my face I just use a very light amount. The Eco Stick is wonderful for travel, touch-ups and is so easy to apply. I especially love to use the Eco Stick on my neck and decollete. Overall I am very satisfied and impressed with these sunscreens but will definitely be reaching for the Eco-Stick the most as I find it so convenient to carry with me in my purse for touch ups and I love how it blends into my skin so quickly without leaving over any residue! I also love how incredibly clean these sunscreens are!

Face Of The Day | Dark Shimmery Smokey Eye

It has been awhile since I did a really smokey eye and especially using gray and black. I usually stick to bronze when I do a smokey-eye. I was recently cleaning out my makeup bag and came across a shadow from Mia Mariu. I hadn’t used this shadow in ages and decided to use it and ended up creating this smokey-eye look that is very classic. It has a hint of shimmer which makes it really fun especially for a night out on the town!

I also wanted to use my new black liquid liner from Zuzu Luxe that I recently picked up at Whole Foods. I have been on the lookout for a good natural and non-toxic liquid eyeliner that would be easy to create a precise line. So far I am absolutely loving this liner – it stays put all day for me and is super pigmented.

I used my bronzer to blend out the gray/black shadow and to add more depth in my crease. I also used a black eyeliner pencil to line my lower lash line and blended the bronzer into the liner to make it look more seamless. The look is not as harsh as it would be if you just used black.

For my lips I wanted some color. I’m not a huge fan of the nude lip look especially on my fair skin tone. I used one of my favorite shades of lipsticks by Honeybee Gardens that really helped to brighten up this look more without leaving me looking too pale. If I was going to wear this look out I would definitely play up my lashes more and maybe bring out some falsies and wing out the liner to create a more intense cat-eye effect

What’s on my Wishlist…

I was inspired to start doing Wishlist posts after constantly adding things to my wishlist thanks to the lovely Seed To Serum and her weekly wishlists that I am always going crazy over. I am not sure I will do it every week but definitely at least every month or at least when I have enough products I am obsessing over, which is quite honestly, all the time. I am a self-proclaimed product junkie and the only thing that makes me feel better about my addiction is the fact that the products I obsess over are all healthy and good for your skin!

Onto the goodies…

Ilia Beauty Multi-Stick in “All Of Me” - Ilia is one of the natural brands I still have yet to try but have been eying for a very long time. I hear so many rave reviews about their multi-sticks and I have seen many fellow natural bloggers wearing and raving about this specific shade which looks right up my alley.
Roots Rose Radish Blue Chamomile Face Cream – I have been oogling and ogling at this company for quite a few months now. Between the beautiful name of the company, their stunning packaging and the clean ingredients, this brand is one that I must try eventually, especially this cream which sounds like heaven.
Kjaer West Mascara – So I still have yet to find “THE” best natural mascara out there (I am on a constant hunt) and this new mascara which is rich in clean ingredients really, really caught my eye. The brush looks like something I would really love and the packaging is just so classy.
Ilia Beauty Lipstick Crayon in “Karma Chameleon” – Another Ilia product I am dying to try. These lip crayons are a new release and it seems like almost everyone in the natural community is talking about these. I am personally drooling over this specific color because it looks so bright and beautiful for Spring and Summer!
RMS Beauty Oil – Oh how I love RMS Beauty. I have yet to try any of Rose-Marie’s skincare products from the line and this facial oil sounds so decadent that I just must have it! I have heard it works wonders with the “Un” Cover-Up which is a daily essential of mine, so it makes me need this product even more. (see how I justify my addictions?)
Kjaer West Eyeshadow in “Cloud Nine” – The entire collection of Kjaer West eyeshadows look so delicate and luxurious. I am a sucker for packaging and their packaging is so sleek and classy. This shade seems like it would be the perfect all over lid color as well as a wonderful highlighting shade! WANT!

Face Of The Day | Sunset Eyes and Pink Lips

This eyeshadow combination reminded me of a beautiful sunset. I used a gold/orange cream shadow from 100% Pure called “Belize” all over my lid and then blended it with the blush I used on my cheeks. I am obsessed with the blush I used in this look called “Nymph” from Zuzu Luxe. It is truly the most beautiful shade of pink with an almost lilac iridescent shimmer that doubles as both a blush and a highlighter (and eyeshadow!).

I also used the blush as a transition eyeshadow on the crease of my eyelids which is a tried and true trick of mine. Try adding your blush to your shadows and you will see that it adds a beautiful natural glow to the eyes and face. I did a thick line of gel eyeliner and winged it out slightly at the end for a more dramatic look using my favorite gel liner from 100% Pure. This stuff stays put and glides on beautifully! For my lips I used two colors – Love & Toast Lip Glaze in “Misbehavin’” and Revolution Organics in “Blushed” which created a vibrant fuchsia color that is really flattering for day or night.

Beauty Buzz | Jane Iredale Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder SPF 20

The Amazing Base Loose Mineral Powder SPF 20 is simply wonderful. I have been using it for months as I wanted to test it out thoroughly before recommending it because I have had bad luck with mineral foundations in the past. I am usually cautious about mineral foundations as I have dry skin and I notice that the loose powder can often make dry skin more noticeable and many mineral foundations contain Bismuth Oxychloride and Talc both of which can cause itchiness, breakouts and skin sensitivity which puts many people off to the idea of mineral foundations in general. Another huge thing with mineral foundations is that many do not contain much or enough coverage depending on your preference.

The Amazing Base is truly miraculous at building product without ever looking cakey and providing beautiful coverage. I use the color “Light Beige” which suits my fair complexion perfectly. I highly recommend this to anyone who is a fan of mineral foundations or who has had bad experiences in the past and is looking for one that will do the job of covering what needs to be covered all while looking natural, flawless and without causing skin irritations.

Benefits:

Provides Broad Spectrum SPF 20 and UVA P++ protection that is water resistant for up to 40 minutes.
Provides exceptional coverage, including redness and brown spots.
Free of oil, talc, dyes and parabens.
Ideal for people who suffer from skin problems such as eczema or rosacea.

How To Use:

Remove the seal or puncture holes for controlled flow of the minerals. Replace lid, turn upside down and tap. The minerals are now released into the sifter.
Cleanse the face and moisturize.
Lightly dip each side of our Chisel Powder Brush into the minerals. Tap off any excess using the side of the jar.
Using the lid, work the minerals into the brush until all powder is absorbed.
Apply the minerals in thin layers using downward strokes. If you’ve put on too much, use our Flocked Sponge to remove any excess. Begin application where you want the most coverage, then lightly layer over the rest of the face. Don’t forget your neck.
Apply Absence Oil Control Primer to smooth the surface of the skin before putting on the minerals. Absence controls oil and helps prevent color change. Good for dry skins, too.
If the minerals look powdery, wait a few minutes for the skin’s natural oils to emerge, or spritz with D2O, Balance or POMMISST.
To “pull” the center of the face out and give more definition to the overall look, use a lighter base in the aesthetic triangle and a darker one on the perimeter.
Less is more. It’s better to layer the minerals than try to cover everything at once. You will be surprised at how much coverage you get with very little product.

Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide 14%, Zinc Oxide 6%. Ingredients: Mica, Boron Nitride, Zinc Stearate, Dimethicone, Stearic Acid, Plankton Extract, Algae Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Ultramarines, Chromium Oxide Greens.

I like to use the Amazing Base with the Chisele Brush and the D20 Hydration Spray which helps to prime and set the minerals.

Face Of The Day | Purple, Bronze and Coral Spring Glow

This look is really pretty for Spring and Summer months and the touch of bronze shimmer on the eyes adds a beautiful glow to the entire face. I really love this look a lot and it can easily be played up or down by adding more liner or using less color in the crease. All products used in this look with be listed below and of course all products are natural, organic or non-toxic.

PRODUCTS USED:

♥ Face:

I moisturized my skin and then applied RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up in “11” (review here) all over my face and blended it with my fingers. For my cheeks I dabbed some RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in “Smile” which is such a beautiful bright coral color. I also used a tiny bit of Dr. Hauschka Translucent Bronzer Concentrate to add more color to my face.

♥ Eyes:

I started with Benecos Natural Baked Eyeshadow in “Melange Silver Purple” and blended it in the crease of my eyes to add definition. I then added Alima Pure Mineral Eyeshadow in “Coffee Frappe” which I applied only to the middle of the eyelid and on the bottom lash line as well. For liner I used Benecos Natural Kajal Eyeliner in “Black” and to make my eyes appear larger, I opted to not use the liner on my top lash line but only on the bottom. For an even more “wide-awake” look I used RMS Beauty’s Living Luminizer in the inner corners of my eyes and on my brow bone. For my lashes I applied two coats of Jane Iredale’s Longest Lash Mascara.

♥ Brows:

I filled in my brows with Gabriel Cosmetics Eyeshadow in “Chocolate Brown”.

♥ Lips:

I used RMS Beauty Lip2Cheek in “Smile” and topped it off with Jane Iredale’s PureGloss Lipgloss in “Beach Plum” (review here). The combination of these two lip colors is beautiful!
