Tsi~La Organics Ilang Ilang Mini Parfum

Today I bring you an exceptional all organic parfum that has been bringing joy (and some sexiness) into my life recently. It comes from the brand Tsi~La (pronounced chee-la), and is the abridged version of the word “atsilvsgi”, meaning “flower” in Cherokee.

Tsi~La Organics Ilang Ilang Eau De Parfum Mini is an exotic and flirtatious 100% natural floral fragrance. The enchanting and seductive scent of these tree blossoms arouses your primal desires. The creamy, floral scent is saturated with sugared citrus fruits and lush vanilla orchids to create pure flirtation. Enchanting Ilang Ilang — open, indulge and be seduced.

After receiving a sample of the Ilang Ilang Parfum from Spirit Beauty Lounge, I just knew I was going to have to place an order for the mini roll-on and of course, I did.

I have a few signature scents that I will forever use but I always love finding new scents and making new memories with them. There is something so sensual about the act of applying perfume that really makes me excited. I love to apply this roll-on parfum to my inner wrists, behind my ears and sometimes I will even roll a little bit on the ends of my hair… I like to do this so that when I walk by people they get tiny whiffs of beautiful scents and hopefully smile :)

On first sniff, I immediately noticed Ylang Ylang and Gardenia and of course, Vanilla. (I am a huge Vanilla fan). The vanilla in this is very unique and is perfectly described above as “lush vanilla orchids”.

Some describe this perfume as “sweet” and almost “candy like” but I personally think it is deeper than that. Yes, it does contain sweetness and yes sometimes I do feel like licking my wrists after applying it (just keeping it real), but I also find it to be very lush and exotic. Sexy would be a great word to describe it. After using up the sample quite quickly, I decided to buy the mini roll-on and it was well worth the price for the beautiful bottle, easy roll-on application and the SMELL! oh, the smell.

This is also the perfect purse perfume because it is so compact and easy to apply. It’s also not an overwhelming scent that will irritate sensitive noses (this is coming from someone with a very sensitive nose and sensitive… well, everything).

It has a lush scent that will not last for hours but remember it is devoid of nasty chemicals so it will not have the staying power of most chemical-laden perfumes. After applied, the scent does linger and it seems to get more beautiful as the day goes on. I don’t mind the scent not lasting hours and hours. I personally enjoy re-applying this throughout the day because just taking out the bottle makes me happy. I also very much enjoy not putting harmful chemicals into my skin, thank you very much!

Tsi~La is quite inspirational in their passion behind their brand. They are Vegan, Animal Cruelty Free, Preservative and Colorant Free, 100% Flower and Pant Based, Super-Fruit and Phytonutrient Infused and contain Zero Synthetic Chemicals.

Now that is impressive and a brand that I feel safe and proud to support!!

Having this beautiful little roll-on parfum has made me curious to try more from Tsi~La.

Have you ever tried any of their scents? I am especially eager to try their Fiori D’arancio Eau De Parfum Spray. I also must try their Fleur Savage and L’absolu Vanille Parfum Roll-Ons. Oh, heck, they all sound dreamy and I wouldn’t mind having these little bottles all around my house.

The Lash Project Gluten Free Conditioning Mascara

When I first heard the news that Red Apple Lipstick was formulating an all-natural, gluten-free and non-toxic mascara, I just KNEW it would be amazing. Every single  product they create and I’ve had the pleasure to  try, I have loved. I’m so excited to share with you this new mascara that is truly wonderful…

We all know how hard and frustrating it can be to find a good natural mascara. The unique things about this mascara in particular? It is not only gluten free, vegan, non GMO, cruelty free, but is also free of soy, dairy, corn, pretty much all things that can cause allergies or irritations. If you are someone with sensitive eyes like me (as well as sensitive “everything”..): this is most likely THE mascara for you.

20140802-181340-65620791.jpg*These photos show my lashes after curling them and applying two coats of mascara to top and bottom lashes!*

The Lash Project Lash Conditioner Mascara is rightfully named because it not only volumizes and  lengthens but it also works to protect and nourish the lashes! It is like a mascara and treatment in one. I for one  want to protect my lashes. I have no problem growing my eyebrows out, but for some reason my eyelashes seem immune to new growth. Maybe it’s a genetic thing! How many of us have lost precious lashes to harsh mascaras that leave  lashes feeling hard and let’s not even get into trying to wash off some of those mascaras… I’ve lost too many lashes to go down that route again!! And my personal opinion of fake eyelashes are that I love them for occasional use (with only non-toxic glue of course) when going for ultra glam makeup looks. But I need (and found) my new daily go-to mascara.

You can purchase the Lash Project 2-IN-1 Mascara + Conditioner here on Red Apple Lipstick’s website. Use the code “BBB” at checkout to receive 22% off of a $50 order or more!!

*In these photos I am also wearing Red Apple Lipstick in Maven Mauve which is absolutely gorgeous!*

MUN No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum

I have a confession to make. I have been having a somewhat secret love affair with the MUN’s No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum for a few months now. Why so secretive? Well, the truth is that whenever I try out new products I am hesitant to jump the gun and rave about them before giving them a true trial with my skin. My skin is so sensitive that I have to give at least a month, if not longer  to able to know how and if  it’s working for me.

I am now confident and so incredibly happy to be able to share with you the product that has been making my skin glow and has completely changed my entire beauty routine.

Let’s take a look at the creator of MUN’s highly coveted serum, No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum.

Munemi Imai is an International makeup artist. She is no stranger to fashion and beauty by any means.  She includes as her clients, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, and ELLE just to name of few. During a brief illness at one point in her career, Munemi discovered the powerful benefits for health, vitality and subsequently beauty, when she included natural ingredients into her food, personal care products and beauty choices. She also took a  thorough look at the  toxins and preservatives she was ingesting on a daily basis, both directly and indirectly. So, naturally a change in diet followed  to only include clean and simple foods. “After a few months, I realized not only did my body feel better, but my mind also felt better.” This “A Ha” moment  brought home the awareness of the  inherent power of natural & organic products. Soon after, she was inspired  to create her own natural cosmetics line and in 2009  Munskin.com was born.

My personal opinion of her “wonder serum” is that it’s a game changer. I’ve immediately added it into my beauty routine and ritual. It does what it claims to do. I have very, VERY sensitive and highly reactive skin, so I’m especially careful when experimenting with new skin care brands. I use a few drops of No.1 Aknari on the palm of my hand, rub together, then breathe in the ethereal scent of this gem then gently pat on my face, neck and decollete. This, my friends, is Aromatherapy at it’s purest essence and form.

I believe the high performance of this blend comes from nature’s unadulterated simplicity. As well as the orchestrated synergy of three of the finest Eco Cert 100% organic ingredients that Munemi specifically chose. The blend; Bulgarian Rose Otto, Argan Oil and Prickly Pear (Barberry Fig) Seed Oil. I agree with her, why complicate beauty?

The Rose and Argan really do transform the appearance of your skin over time. Prickly Pear brings your natural radiance and glow back. Prickly Pear seed oil is the rarest of them all. Along with being ultra moisturizing and softening, it’s packed with Sterols that are known to protect against free radicals. This precious oil is often referred to as “liquid gold”. It is one of the most expensive beauty oils in the world. Labor intensive and time consuming, the process is handled by Moroccan women cooperatives. The seeds are separated from the pulp and are dried before being cold pressed. Each seed contains only 5% of oil, up to 60 lbs of seeds (and a half ton of fruits) are required to yield about 34 oz. of oil. That’s pretty amazing.

The formula that Munemi has created is gentle, restorative and yet just brilliant. The  Bulgarian rose oil is strong when you first pump it from the Miron glass bottle. But it dissipates quickly into a silky desirable ever so sweet fragrance of the gentlest kind of  rose. It has noticeably reduced my tendency for dark circles. I use it morning and evening. I don’t ever want to be without this special blend. I want to say it’s addictive in the most positive sense of the word. I really look forward to my a.m. and p.m. treatment and enjoying it’s multiple benefits.

I find this serum works beautifully as a primer underneath makeup and makes my skin look incredibly glowing and healthy. I’ve had a few people ask me recently if I am using more highlighter on my skin because of the “glow” and honestly I owe much of the compliment to this serum. It is skin glowing magical.

No. 1 Aknari has become a permanent addition to my organic beauty ritual and has really brightened my complexion. Wait until you see how fast the serum sinks into your skin. I believe Munemi has created something really special and I highly recommend you add this product to your skin care program.

You can purchase the MUN No.1 Aknari Brightening Youth Serum for $95 at Spirit Beauty Lounge. One bottle of MUN No. 1 Aknari is a 3 to 4 month supply with daily use. I think it’s worth every penny!!!

Rahua Voluminous Shampoo

What is there to say about the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo that is negative? the answer is:  NOTHING!  But, oh what to say about the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo that is positive? Simply put… EVERYTHING!

photo (44)

In the past I was never too picky about the shampoo I chose. I based my decision on the aroma, the price and the of course, the marketing!  But then I  had my “moment of enlightenment” a few years ago where I switched over to natural and non-toxic products. Seems ridiculous to me now, but it finally occurred to me that things I put ON and IN my body could have a positive or negative effect on my health! Since making the switch to shampoos that are not only sulfate-free but also gluten-free, I have become somewhat of a hair care aficionado. I’ve tried many natural shampoos that have left my hair feeling dry, limp or even oily. All things undesirable! Usually there is something I like about each one, but not the “whole package” as they say. I’m usually left feeling like I need more of the promises fulfilled.

My hair is usually on the normal to dry side but in the hot months it can get a bit oily. Especially when I go a few days without washing, which I try to do because it’s so much healthier for the scalp and hair to have our own natural oils help to lubricate the hair shafts. Healthy hair equals a very happy me!

I find that the Rahua Voluminious Shampoo is the absolute best for keeping my hair looking healthy, thick, shiny, soft and clean! I can go at least three days without washing (if not longer!!) when I use this magical product. It’s the best. It gives a light lather and really does regenerate my scalp and hair follicles as promised! This fortifying rich liquid, is delicately fragrant with the scents of Lemongrass, Lavender, and Eucalyptus which are all aromatherapy enhancers as well as are star ingredients for healthy hair. It’s also safe for color treated hair. and it is Gluten Free!

I have very long hair which makes it extremely easy to be tangled and unmanageable. Especially if I go a few  days without shampooing and use dry shampoo (my favorites are the LuLu Organics and my DIY Dry Shampoo) in between washes.)

The Rahua Voluminous is the absolute best shampoo that I have tried and  is most definitely my all time favorite.

Many thanks to Katie from The Green Product Junkie for recommending it to me! Incidentally if you ever have the chance to meet my dear friend, and have seen her gorgeous locks, you too would ask her “secret”. Her hair is just amazing.

photo (32)

I also have to give honorable mention to the Rahua Voluminous Conditioner as well because it is also absolutely wonderful. I use it on the bottom three inches of my hair and it leaves the ends feeling so incredibly soft. I  sometimes use this conditioner as an all-over hair mask. I apply it from the roots to the ends of my hair and leave on for 15-20 minutes and then rinse well with cool water. Your hair will feel so soft and shiny after doing this!

You can purchase the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo for $32.00 here, or you can purchase the Rahua Volumious Shampoo with the Voluminous Conditioner for $68.00 here.

Botanical Me

I’m so excited to introduce you to two very inspirational sisters, Jill and Carly the founders of Botanical Me. Botanical Me is a collection of vibrant aromatherapy products inspired by the unique healing plants of Africa. This brand was born in 2012 out of an ephiphany from a conversation between Jill and her husband (a native of Nigeria and a Malaria survivor). That light bulb moment sparked her to team up with her sister, Carly.

They used their nine years of aromatherapy business experience to source, design and formulate the Botanical Me collection. The “botanical sisters” intention was to create a natural body care and aromatherapy company that would contribute part of their proceeds to support malaria prevention and treatment in Africa. They partnered with, Malaria No More. This organization supports prevention programs and treatments in communities. Jill and Carly want their donations to potentially save thousands of children’s lives and help with the education and ultimately the eradication of this devastating disease. The “Me” to the Botanical-me is short for Malaria Eradication!

Their motto is, “Natural body care that inspires, heals and gives back!”. I think this is some pretty admirable stuff! It is so incredible to me when a company can use their combined ingenuity to create a brand that not only give us clean and green beautiful beauty products, but that can turn their passion for helping into reality! Win and win, again!

Now on to the innovative products that are my favorites…

Apricot Argan Oil

This multi-use elegant blend of rare oils is so versatile! I use it for my hair, skin care and even my nails. I love the vibrant uplifting scent. This oil is so light and smoothing. I use it on my wet hair after a shower. Just put a few drops of this delight on my hands and rub into my hair. It’s such a great treatment full of antioxidants, vitamins, polyphenols and omega fatty acids. I also use it on my face after I cleanse, tone, and then I press a few drops into my face for supreme moisture.

Lemon Bergamot Body Butter

Another winner top selling product and favorite. This is the best aroma ever in a body butter! It’s “rich buttery sunshine in a jar”. The mango and shea butters are blended perfectly with uplifting citrus essential oils lemon and bergamot fruit. This is formulation blends into your skin very quickly with no greasy residue. It’s just perfect. If you want a quick pick-me-up, do what I do…reapply all throughout the day. (Inhale deeply first!). I use it all over. A little goes a long way, this is really rich.

Rested & Refreshed Aroma Mist

This travel sized mist stays in my purse at all times. I spray it all throughout the day on my clothes, hair and directly in front of my face to breathe in the luscious and really fresh aroma. It naturallyneliminates airborne germs. It’s so relaxing with the South African grown Cape Lavender essential oil. Don’t worry about staining because it has a non-staining water base. At night I spray it on my bed pillows for a restful sleep and it’s added theraputic benefit of calming my nerves. It also contains green basil and citrus essential oils which balance mood and fight jet-lag as well as fatigue.

Instant Energy / Pulse Point Roll-On

If you follow my blog you are well aware of my love for all things aromatherapy! I love the complex scents and therapeutic benefits of essential oils. I can’t get enough of them. Botanical me has come up with an invigorating aromatherapy blend to roll on your neck, shoulders and pulse points. (Take a look on the site for demonstrations on how to use).

Namaste Yoga Mat Spray

I love this multi-purpose aromatherapy spray for my yoga practice so much. We all know how sweaty the mat can get after a session. I spray about eight pumps of Namaste on mine to clean it and keep it bacteria free after each use. Don’t forget to wipe it off with a clean towel. Jill and Carly designed this to be used also as an air freshener and a fabric spray, too.

I really LOVE this company. Jill and Carly are two really incredible giving women that realized that each one of us really can personally make a difference in our world. I encourage you to go to their site, botanicalme.com and take a look. I feel so good when I know that I can make a purchase for beautiful green beauty products (they also sell organic chocolate, honey and tea!) and at the same time help a cause that is just so important to children that need our help. Never forget the power each one of us has to make a big difference collectively in the world!

What’s on my Wishlist…

I’m back with my 6th wishlist! (Feel free to look back on my older wishlists! 12345.) This month’s wishlist has been inspired by many fellow bloggers. I haven’t done one in awhile because I like to really save the products that I truly am LUSTING over, not just wanting, because if I did it any other way it would be mile long! Most of these products have been on my radar for awhile now while a few others are new discoveries. Either way, I am coveting all of these. Why is it so exciting to discover new products? I love when I place an order and then my anticipation goes sky high waiting for the order to arrive…then unwrapping and opening the beautiful package. Best of all, trying out the new special creations! Who else is with me on this? How blessed are we to have all these choices?

  1. Balm Balm Frankincense Deep Cleansing Balm – I can’t get enough of cleansing balms. They are so lovely. I love to use them to remove makeup or to use as hydrating masks. I always look forward to using them at night as a part of my double-cleansing method. This balm was recommended by a fellow blogger, Fern & Moss, I saw her mention this a few times and I checked out the ingredients and was very impressed.
  2. Belle De Nuit Eye Mask – I have seen this mentioned lately on so many different sites. It seems incredibly relaxing and I could use all of the extra help I can get when it comes to a good nights sleep!
  3. Jade Facial Roller - Am I the only one that just thinks this seems like so much fun? I can just picture myself getting all relaxed before bed and bringing out this beautiful jade facial roller to use on my face and neck. It just seems so calming and decadent. Plus it has amazing reviews and is said to “rejuvenate face and neck skin”. We all want that!
  4. Inika Mineral Foundation – I am a huge mineral makeup fan. I seem to always revert back to applying minerals after using creams or liquids for awhile. I find they work with my skin the most naturally and are also the least reactive as they contain such simple ingredients. I’ve heard rave reviews about this particular mineral foundation and have been lusting after it for quite awhile now! It seems my color match would most likely be “Strength”, which by the way, makes me want it more. They have the best names for their colors. Love. Not to mention it’s an Australian company and I love, love, love Sydney!
  5. One Love Organics Cleansing Sponge – I won’t lie: I am attracted to cute packaging and this heart shape is no exception. The fact that it’s a heart is one thing and then knowing it’s made by OLO makes me want it even more. I know this baby would fit in perfectly with my products and look so cute doing it  :)
  6. ARCONA Gentle Solution – When I read this article interviewing Nicolle Mackinnon and Susannah Compton of No More Dirty Looks and read that Arcona Gentle Solution was the product that changed Nicole’s skin, I had to investigate. When I read the ingredients and saw that it’s specially formulated for sensitive skin, I knew I had to have it.
  7. Beauty Without Cruelty Concealer – I have just learned of this concealer thanks to this post by the lovely Annabel of Fragmented Splendour who also has this on her wishlist! What can I say? I want want want it. It seems so convenient to have a concealer in a pencil form like this, not only for travel but for on-the-go touch-ups and also to zero in at targeted areas. I love the simplicity of the ingredients and it has a crazy amount of amazing reviews
  8. Earth tu Face Cleanser – I first heard about this cleanser from one of my absolute favorite blogs out there, Free + Native. After I saw a few posts where this product was featured, I noticed more and more people were mentioning it and it peeked my curiosity. I am very impressed with the ingredients and am in need of a cleanser like this.
  9. Sunday Riley Juno Face Oil – This facial oil is described as “An enhancing, transformative lipid serum.” The beautiful Britta Aragon of CV Skinlabs mentioned this facial oil in my interview with her. That combined with the description of this oil as “obsession worthy glow” was enough to sell me on it! The ingredients sound so beautiful: Meadowfoam Seed Oil, Broccoli Oil, Carrot Oil, Chardonnay Grape Oil, Black Cumin, Cranberry Seed Oil, Berry Seed Blend (Blackberry, Blueberry, Raspberry). It says this oil is for all skin types including eczema prone.

Have you tried any of these products that I am lusting over? What is on YOUR wishlist? Share in the comments!!!

RMS Beauty Sublime Lip Shine

Processed with VSCOcam with c1 preset

RMS Beauty Sublime Lip Shine is my new favorite lip color for Summer! When I first spotted the fuchsia, hot pink color in the pot, my first thought was “there is no way I can pull off that strong color!”. It seemed so bold. Boy was I wrong!  It is incredibly flattering on all skin tones and it instantly brightens the complexion. If you are scared of it being too pink, don’t be! It’s very buildable. You can wear it sheer to create a slight baby pink color or add more layers to make it more pigmented. It never looks like too much product is on my lips no matter how many layers of this I apply and the best part is that IT IS SO MOISTURIZING. It feels like a lip balm + lip tint all in one. It also lasts throughout the entire day on me and I find that by the end of the day while some of the pigment may have lessened, the pink color still lasts and looks natural and beautiful on my lips. You could also wear this on your cheeks as well!

Ingredients: castor seed oil*, coconut oil*, moringa oil*, carnauba wax*, cocoa seed butter*, beeswax*, centella asiatica extract, rosemary extract*, vitamin e. may contain + / – : red iron oxide ci 77491, yellow iron oxide ci 77492, black iron oxide ci 77499, titanium dioxide ci 77891, mica ci 77019. *Certified Organic. This product is gluten-free.

Where to buy: I purchased my Lip Shine on Spirit Beauty Lounge for $25.00!

What do you think of this color? Have you tried any of the Lip Shines from RMS Beauty?

*This post was not sponsored. All products mentioned were purchased with my own money. All opinions are 100% my own, as always!!*

My Top Four: Favorite Affordable Facial Oils

To say that I am a lover of facial oils would be a drastic understatement. I truly adore my oils and although I have quite the collection, I still am always lusting after more. There is no such thing as too many oils! With that said, I have a large collection of oils that are more on the expensive side and I know that it’s not realistic for everyone to spend $50-$100 on a small bottle of oil every few months. I do think some oils are worth the extra money and if you are interested in knowing what my favorite less-affordable but brilliantly amazing facial oils are then I will definitely make a post on those!

I get asked a lot which oils are great for the face but will not cost an arm and a leg. I have compiled a list of these top four oils which are all easily available, affordable and incredibly effective. I also chose all of these oils because in my opinion they are the best for all skin types. This list is in no particular order of favorites!!

  1. Badger Damascus Rose Antioxidant Face Oil ($15.27) – This is the most expensive oil of the bunch (still affordable!) and most definitely the most delicious smelling and decadent as well. It smells like a flower garden and is incredibly relaxing. It always gives my skin a beautiful glow and is very moisturizing. It is highly absorbent, antioxidant-rich and contains healing oils like Jojoba, Baobab, Pomegranate and more! This face oil is ideal for dry, mature or combination skin, but can be used on all skin types.
  2. Acure Organics Argan Oil ($13.49) – Coined as “liquid gold”, this is by far the most effective and affordable Argan Oil out there. It is 100% organic, rich in Vitamin E, Essential Fatty Acids and is lightweight and easily absorbed! This oil is not only great for the face, but I also love to use it on my cuticles, hands, and hair!
  3. Sibu Beauty Seabuckthorn Oil ($9.98) – I don’t usually like to choose favorites but I have to say that this is definitely my favorite out of the bunch. In-fact, Seabuckthorn Oil (berry & seed) is now my every day staple. It keeps eczema at bay and reduces redness. Seabuckthorn Seed Oil has been long used as a topical treatment to aid relief of skin conditions like eczema, acne, rosacea, dermaitits, age spots, you name it! It is truly an incredibly healing oil that I can never be without. I have literally gone through five bottles of this oil because I use it day and night!
  4. Aura Cacia Jojoba Oil ($12.12) – Jojoba Oil is the first oil I recommend to anyone who is starting out in the world of facial oils. Why? because it is it is nearly identical in chemical structure to the natural oils in skin and hair, and therefor is easily absorbed without leaving a greasy residue. Here’s another interesting fact: Jojoba Oil is not actually an oil, but a wax :) It also seems to be the the oil that responds best with all skin types from dry to sensitive to oily or acne-prone. It’s a staple-oil that I think everyone should have in their home!

Have you tried any of these Facial Oils? What are YOUR favorite affordable oils?

Life & Blog Update!

ig1 copy

I apologize for the lack of updates on my blog lately. I have been working really hard at moving my blog over to a self-hosted site which is a lot more work than I had anticipated. I want to have more freedom with my blog which is what inspired me to do this move but I didn’t realize it would take me so long to get everything up and ready.

I am also working on setting up a space for recording YouTube videos on a regular basis. Between the blog changes and working on new things, I have also been struggling with my health more so than usual lately. I’ve been having a very difficult time and it has made everything that much harder for me to get finished! I am still motivated as ever though, to keep things growing and to keep progressing no matter what the situation. I am extremely resilient and thankful for that.

While I am working on blog changes, I would love to know what you would all like to see me post more about. Are you more interested in reviews, makeup looks, health-related posts, fashion, recipes, diy’s, etc? Please feel free to leave your feedback in the comments and let me know what you are the most interested in reading on my blog. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I want to produce more content that YOU want to see.

I promise regular blog updates will resume soon but in the mean time I am very active over on my instagram account: @beautybybritanie and update there almost every day. Please follow me there if you want to keep up with me and bare with me while I work on making my blog even better. I am not tech savvy and it’s not easy for me but I will get there!!

Thanks for your love, patience and support everyone. xoxo
