GEM+REMEDY - For Metaphysical Enhancements

I first discovered Gem+Remedy on instagram and was instantly attracted to the designs. I have always been very fascinated with gemstone healing and have started my own little gemstone collection recently! I was so happy to come across these wonderful bracelets.

Created using the metaphysical theories of color and gemstone therapy, these intention bracelets are handmade in Los Angeles California on 100% Silk Thread, With Real Gemstones, Sterling Silver and Gold Beads.

After reading about the wonderful intentions of these bracelets, I contacted the owner and she was kind enough to make me my own customized bracelet.

My bracelet is for Health, Grounding, Love + Protection and is made with Amethyst, Smokey Quartz, Rose Quartz and Garnet.

  • Amethyst can replenish lost energy eroded by depressive episodes or physical harm. It can also increase your energy levels.
  • Smokey Quartz is a very protective and grounding stone. It brings physical and psychic protection. It is also an excellent stone for protection from negative energy, as It removes negativity and negative energy of any kind and transforms them to positive energy.
  • Rose Quartz is a stone of unconditional love that opens the heart chakra to all forms of love: self-love, family love, platonic love, and romantic love. The high energy of quartz gives rose quartz the property of enhancing love in virtually any situation. Bringing love in to life and daily situations not only brings inner warmth, but it also lowers stress and soothes those around it. Rose quartz is a very happy and loving stone.
  • Garnet is a stone of regeneration and stability.  It is said to bring positive thoughts and be excellent for manifestation and bringing abundance. Garnet can boost the entire system’s energy and remove negative energy from the chakras. It is said to be stabilizing in that it can bring order to chaos whether internal or external.

These bracelets attract to the wearer different energetic properties the gemstones and silk colors possess. All bracelets come packaged in apothecary glass bottles with all their info printed on the label so you’ll never forget what energies you’re drawing in! a portion of all profits go to LA women’s shelters.

I find great comfort in wearing this bracelet throughout my day, especially in times of high-anxiety which I have been recently struggling with. It also looks so beautiful with other pieces of jewelry and I find myself stopping to look at the beautiful bright colors which instantly brightens my mood.

Tip: I find that when I am having a panic attack or feeling very stressed, rubbing each stone helps to relieve some anxiety and help to distract my thoughts and aim my attention to the healing energies of the stones.

Note: make sure to always wash your gemstones after use as they can carry negative energy and anxiety in them. I wash mine under running water although there are many ways to wash your stones!

You can check out all of the beautiful bracelets designed for different desires and needs on the Gem+Remedy website. You can also ask for your own customized bracelet!

Love & Blessings,

Makeup Look: Dramatic Winged Eyeliner + Pretty Pink Lips!

Hi Loves!

I apologize for my absence lately. Sometimes you need to just “unplug” yourself and I felt like I needed a break from the internet and took some time for myself. I originally had posted a photo of me on instagram mentioning this look and said it would be up in a few days and I really apologize for the delay. Many of you were curious as to what I used to achieve such a dramatic eyeliner look and I think you will be surprised at how few products it took to achieve this glamorous look.

Makeup Look: Dark Red Lips and Lots of Lashes!

IMG_0202x

I recently did an entire green beauty look for Organic Beauty Talk and I wanted to also share it on my blog as I think it’s a perfect look to wear with Valentine’s Day approaching! The dark lip is perfect for a sexy night out.

For this look I wanted to do something dramatic and yet wearable for this winter season. I combined a purple silvery eye shadow with some dark browns to balance out the color, warm rosy cheeks with a subtle glow, and of course, dark lips to complete the look! I’m also wearing some new false lashes from EcoTools and am very excited that they have a non-toxic eyelash glue. Finally, I can wear false lashes again without having to compromise my health standards. Of course, the lashes are optional but I like them on special occasions to add a little more drama to the entire look.

Red Apple Lipstick in “Fierce” is… FIERCE.

IMG_0147,jpg

This beauty of a lipstick is described as a “bold red wine” purple shade. This lipstick can be worn dark or much lighter. You can see in the first photo wearing this it almost appears a bit red and in the second shown it looks much more purple. The shade varies on how you apply it and the lighting. The color looks chocolate brown in the tube but when applied it looks much more like a deep purple and sometimes a deep red purple. It harkens the 1920′s era.

I cannot get enough of this color. It actually makes me FEEL fierce when I wear it and we could all go for feeling a little more fierce in our day to day lives, right?!

This lipstick is a Satin finish and is – Gluten Free, Paraben Free, Nut/Tree Nut Free, Fragrance Free, Soy Free, and Toxin Free

You can purchase Fierce here for $23.50 and keep a look out for more looks using Red Apple Lipstick products. I am incredibly impressed with their lip and eye products!

Britanie

Today’s Nails: Flower Beauty Bluebell Of The Ball & Genfiore Diamond Rock

naiilll

I have been getting into doing my nails again lately. I go through periods of not wanting to bother with nail polish and other times I feel naked without polish. I fell in love with this Bluebell Of The Ball by Flower Beauty which is a 3-free polish that is very long-lasting. I’m impressed with the quality and affordability and am eager to try out more colors from the line. I decided to make the nails a little more exciting by adding a silver accent nail using Diamond Rock from Genfiore Cosmetics (also 3-free). This silver polish is lovely! I am surprised at it’s lasting power as many glitter polishes tend to chip extremely easily. So far both of these polishes have lasted very well without any top coats.

The combination of these colors remind me of Spring which I cannot wait to arrive. Sorry Winter, I appreciate your beauty but I’m over it. Come here Spring!

Green Beauty Makeup Look and Healthy Expectations

Hi everyone, I hope you are all enjoying 2014 so far. I’m back with my first makeup look for 2014!

I wanted to quickly talk about healthy expectations. With the pressure so many of us put on ourselves for New Years Resolutions, let’s each begin with a few important small steps. Changing over just one mainstream makeup item for a new clean product. Drinking an extra glass of water. Having a healthy vitamin packed green smoothie for breakfast to start our day right. Making an honest effort to keep our thinking positive. Smiling and laughing more. Just begin now. You’ll be amazed at what you will have accomplished within just one week.

Now onto the makeup… :)

Get This Look:

1. I prepped my face with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector and then applied the new Kjaer Weis Foundation in the color “Like Porcelain”. I started out using the Kjaer Weis Foundation Blush to apply to smaller areas on my face like around my nose and my eyes. I then blended everything out with a damp Beauty Blender.

2. Instead of adding a blush I decided to mix together my RMS Beauty Buruti Bronzer and Living Luminizer which created a very subtle warm glow to the cheeks, cheekbones and temples.

3. For the eyes I used the Bdellium Tools Green Bambu Smoky Eye Brush Kit to apply two colors from the Jane Iredale Glamour Eye & Lip Palette and Kjaer Weis Wisdom Eyeshadow. I started with RMS Beauty Living Luminizer as an eyelid primer and base all over the lid using my fingers. I then applied Wisdom (a metallic taupe shimmer) with the 777B Shadow Brush and lightly applied Merlot (a matte eggplant color) to the crease of my eyes with the 781B Crease Brush and blended really well. I then used a 760B Liner Brush to apply the Zuzu Luxe Raven Liquid Liner. Using a liner brush can help to give you a more sturdy line. To make my eyes pop I added Hush (a sheer shimmer pink color) to the inner corners of my eyes using the 716 Smoky Eyeliner Brush. I curled my lashes, applied one coat of Kjaer Weis Mascara and applied EcoTools Eyelashes

4. For my brows I used the Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit in the color “Brunette”.

5. For my lips I wanted to use one of my absolute favorite lip products and colors: Kjaer Weis Sensuous Plum Lip Tint - it gives the perfect almost nude plum tint to the lips and I found that W3LL People Paganist Lipgloss in #2 wears very well over top! It adds a warm glow to the plum that is very flattering.

Happy Holidays + Mulberry Wine Makeup Look

15xx

Happy Holidays Everyone!! I hope you are all having a wonderful week. I wanted to do a quick post showing the makeup look I wore last night. I had been wanting to try out a lip product from Bite Beauty for quite some time so when I recently stopped by Sephora I decided to check out some of their lipsticks. When I was browsing through all of the different lip colors, I was instantly drawn to the color Mulberry. I swatched it on my hand and fell in love. I couldn’t wait to put this deep wine color on my lips! This color inspired me to do a very quick holiday-inspired look before heading out to celebrate Christmas Eve. All photos were taken with my iphone so I apologize for the quality!

Bite Beauty’s lipsticks are formulated WITHOUT – Parabens, Sulfates, Synthetic Fragrances, Synthetic Dyes, Petrochemicals, Phthalates, GMOs, Triclosan. They are free of synthetics, polybutenes, and petroleum byproducts and made exclusively with lip nurturing food-grade ingredients that are healthy enough to eat.

For this look I used Real Techniques Core Collection Brushes for my face and Bdellium Tools Green Bambu Smokey Eye Set for my eyes. I will specify which brushes used for each product below.

How I Achieved This Look:

13x

I started by priming my skin with Vapour Organic Beauty Stratus Instant Skin Perfector

I then applied Kjaer Weis Foundation in “Like Porcelain” with the Pointed Foundation Brush to targeted areas that needed coverage (around my nose, chin, under eyes) I then blended out the foundation using the Buffing Brush. Used the Contour Brush to apply Kjaer Weis Desired Glow Blush on the apples of my cheeks. I also contoured with this blush using the Detailer Brush.

For the eyes I wanted to keep it neutral with the colors (since the lips are the main focus of this look) and do a slight winged out liner. For this I lightly brushed a pink color all over my lid using the 777B Shadow Brush, and then using the 781B Crease Brush I blended a light brown shadow to the crease of my eye. Both colors were from Jane Iredale’s Glamour Eye & Lip Palette. I lined my eyes with 100% Pure Black Tea Gel Liner to the top lash-line using the 760B Liner Brush.I also lightly swept the same brown color to the lower lash-line and applied Kjaer Weis Mascara to the lower lashes and Dr. Hauschka Volume Mascara to the top. I filled in my eyebrows using Jane Iredale’s Bitty Brow Kit.

I lined my lips with BareMinerals Marvelous Moxie Lip Liner in “Electrified” – (a royal plum) and then applied two layers of Bite Beauty Luminous Creme Lipstick in “Mulberry” – (wine).

Outfit Of The Day & Body Acceptance

IMG_8955x

Happy November!! I’ve said before; I love the crisp fall air and I love autumn fashion. I’ve done “outfit of the day” posts randomly in the past, but recently I’ve been more inspired than ever. I’ve received emails from women who’ve shared with me that they look up to me for promoting my curvy figure. It really struck a chord with me and made me think about how extremely important it is for all healthy women to embrace their bodies and curves.

There was a period of time where I was very uncomfortable in my body. I fought with an eating disorder for a few years. About five years ago I decided to give up worrying about weight and label size and to really start focusing on health, love & acceptance. I’ve finally learned to accept the skin I am in and to work with what I have while still always striving to become a stronger, healthier person.

I will never be stick thin, it’s just not in my bones. And you know what? That’s okay. I don’t need to be skinny, thin or “average” by fashion standards. I just need to be me. I tried once to fit into the mainstream modeling world of “standards” and it left me looking frail and feeling constantly obsessed with all things weight. Whatever size or shape you are; love yourself and treat your body well. There are so many more important things in life than striving to be thin. I say, embrace your individuality. It makes life far more interesting, don’t you think? No two leaves are the same….just saying! They are each spectacular works of art!
