Introducing: Tom’s of Maine Luminous White Toothpaste

I’ve been using Tom’s of Maine products for over five years now. This was one of the first brands that I discovered when I was transitioning over to more natural products. I love that they are affordable and available everywhere! They emerged back 47 years ago to create a trusted personal care and oral care brand that is made with no artificial colors, fragrances, preservatives or flavors. Tom’s of Maine products are not tested on animals (yay!!) and all of their packagings is recyclable through Terracycle. Take a look at the site for more information.

When it comes to toothpaste I AM EXTREMELY PICKY. I suffer from occasional Perioral Dermatitis. It is a condition that can often be worsened from many kinds of toothpaste (often fluoride!), because of this I have had to switch over to natural toothpaste that has not delivered very well. I have had cavities since I stopped using fluoride and noticed a huge decrease in my overall dental health since stopping it and was excited to give it a try again. That combined with the whitening aspect made me especially excited.

I’ve been using the Luminous White toothpaste (Tom’s of Maine’s most advanced whitening toothpaste to date), twice per day for the past two weeks. My favorite thing about this product is the results I’ve had. My teeth look whiter. It’s amazing to me how just having some of the surface stains (don’t ask me to stop drinking my one cup of organic coffee per day, because it’s not going to happen, lol), removed from my teeth can make my smile so much brighter! Now back to perioral dermatitis: It’s been two weeks and I have had ZERO irritations from using this product. I am extremely excited about this.

The natural peppermint flavor is really refreshing and invigorating also and not too harsh! Sometimes Peppermint can be overpowering in toothpaste and this is just super fresh and subtle.  My teeth and mouth look and feel cleaner when I use this product. And another benefit is fresh peppermint breath.

The formula: is safe for my tooth enamel, is made with biodegradable or mineral ingredients, is safe for everyday use, AND is GLUTEN FREE (very important for me). Many people don’t realize gluten can be hiding in toothpaste. Make sure if you have a gluten sensitivity like I do, that everything you use on your body is gluten-free.

I shop at Whole Foods and I’m happy to say they carry Tom’s of Maine products and now offer the Luminous White Toothpaste. Whole Foods is where I first discovered this brand.

I’ve mentioned this before in my other featured blog posts, that I really love when I find a product that not only performs the way they advertise it will, but that gives back to the environment, and or the community. Tom’s of Maine does both with donating 10% of profits to human and environmental causes. That’s a lot of helping and goodwill going back to causes that are important to me!

Tom’s of Maine does a great job, in my opinion, to help people everywhere with affordable and natural products to help them make better choices for their health and the welfare of our environment.

The Original Owners of Tom’s of Maine

Way back in 1968 Tom and Kate Chappell moved to rural Kennebunk, Maine. Part of their reason for doing so was to simplify their lives. Naturally (literally and figuratively), they looked for unprocessed foods and unadulterated products to complement their new lifestyle.

When they couldn’t find personal care options for their family, they decided to create and sell their own! They believed they could start a company based on the philosophy that their products would not harm them or the environment.

Tom’s of Maine has grown and developed into a unique innovative company all from the humble beginnings of a $5000 loan and a strong philosophy of care.

Unable to find natural personal care options for themselves and their children, in 1970 Tom and Kate decided to create and sell their own. They began with a $5,000 loan from a friend and the philosophy that their products would not harm the environment.

I’m happy I discovered Tom’s of Maine five years ago to help me transition to affordable and more natural solutions for my personal care needs.

  1. Wow your teeth look so white! ❤ I think it's rather genes than this paste, but I'll try it since it is natural 🙂 Thanks for the review.

  2. Awesome post! I was honestly so anti-fluoride till I saw your insta post and read the blog, I need to stop just accepting what people say without looking into it myself! Plus.. yeah who doesn’t need a recommendation for a whitening toothpaste that works!?
