Favorite Tinted Moisturizers | Part 1

I was inspired by a series on No More Dirty Looks where the girls featured a series of their favorites foundations. I thought that was a great idea to do a separate post dedicated to each favorite product instead of putting all of the favorites into one big post. Instead of doing my favorite foundations I decided to go for my favorite Tinted Moisturizers as I find that they are what I reach for most of the time and what I prefer over most liquid and mineral foundations. I might do more series posts like this featuring specific products like Concealers, Mascara’s, etc. Please let me know if you would like me to do a series of blog posts dedicated to my favorite natural products and which you would be the most interested in seeing!

This will be a series of four posts featuring four different tinted moisturizers that I love and use often. Starting off this series is a product I recently tested out and have been loving- It is the Everyday Sheer Coverage SPF20 by Marie Veronique Organics.

This Tinted Moisturizer/SPF protects against both UVA and UVB rays with non-nano zinc oxide and provides a sheer matte finish that makes it ideal for everyday use.

The result is a smooth, sheer matte finish and peace of mind knowing your skin is protected.mRecommended for all skin types, Everyday Sheer Coverage SPF 20 is the only UVA/UVB sunscreen made with 16.6 % non-nano zinc oxide. This Tinted Moisturizer comes in four different shades: Extra Light Tint, Light Tint, Medium Tint and Dark Tint.

KEY INGREDIENTS

Non-nano zinc oxide

Non-nano zinc oxide protects against the full UV spectrum, UVA as well as UVB. It works by reflecting UV rays rather than absorbing them. And, it’s highly stable, unlike most chemical sunscreens, which can generate free radicals that cause skin damage.

Pearl powder

This powder contains calcium carbonate and conchiolin, alternating layers of which create a pearl’s luster. Its light reflective qualities also make it ideal for cosmetic foundations where a lustrous finish is desired. Reflected light makes skin appear brighter, dark circles appear less dark and wrinkles appear shallower.

Oat Beta glucansThis polysaccaride known for its ability to penetrate deeply, delivers significant anti-aging benefits because it moisturizes at deeper layers of the skin.

ALL INGREDIENTS

Active ingredient: 16.6% non-nano zinc oxide.

Camellia sinensis (green & white tea), non-nano zinc oxide, vegetable glycerin, Brassica oleracea italica (broccoli seed oil), Prunus avium (cherry kernel seed oil), emu oil, Punica granatum (pomegranate seed oil), Rubus idaeus (red raspberry seed oil), Tocopherol (vitamin E), Calodendrum capense (yangu oil), Cosmocil CQ*, xanthan gum, n-acetyl glucosamine, lecithin, potassium sorbate, pearl powder, Rosemarinus officinalis (rosemary oleoresin), beta glucan, Coffea arabica (coffee fruit extract), Hydrolyzed silk (silk powder), Rosa centifolia (rose) essential oil, Citrus aurantium bigaradia (neroli) essential oil, Helichrysum italicum (helichrysum essential oil), Cistus incanus (cistus) essential oil, iron oxides

*Paraben-free anti-microbial agent

NO HARMFUL INGREDIENTS

No harmful chemicals, nanoparticles, parabens, fillers, waxes, or fragrances.

MY THOUGHTS

I went with Extra Light Tint for my fair skin and find that the color matches me perfectly. I think in the warmer months I could possibly go a little darker by using the Light Tint but for the most part I am very happy with the shade I use. The scent is very herbally. It almost smells of flowers. It can be a little bit hard to really rub into the skin if you have very dry skin like I do. I tend to use a light moisturizer underneath this for added hydration. Once it’s on the skin it’s fairly easy to blend and I prefer to use my fingers with this and with most tinted moisturizers. I really like that this tinted moisturizer not only protects my skin with healthy SPF but it also moisturizes, covers redness well and lasts on my skin all day without getting shiny or greasy. This product has also never caused me to breakout or left me with any irritated skin. After using this only a few times I knew it was already in my top four favorites!

Look for my Part 2 in the Tinted Moisturizer series soon!

  1. Love your new layout! I haven’t tried this tinted moisturizer but in fact, I haven’t found a tinted moisturizer I actually like. I just prefer foundations but maybe there is ‘the one’ tinted moisturizer out there, I will love? who knows xxx

    1. Thank you! I had a hard time finding a Tinted Moisturizer that I really loved as well but after trying out quite a few I now have four that I really love and use often. It definitely just takes finding that certain one that works for you!

  2. I’m on the lookout for a tinted moisturizer too! I’m trying to find a cleaner product than my Jane Iredale dream tint, which I love, but I don’t love all the ingredients. I want to try 100% Pure, have you tried it? Personally I won’t support MVO because they use emu oil in some of their products. Looking forward to part 2!

    1. I have heard good things about the 100% Pure tinted moisturizer but have never tried it myself! I’d love to at some point. Part 2 will be coming soon!! Are you vegan is that why you aren’t comfortable with emu oil?

  3. Thanks for the review. I was looking for sheer coverage for every day. I’ve already ordered some samples of Zosimos and Vapour from your earlier review of their products. It is SO NICE when a company offers samples. Sometimes tester colors look great as a swatch on my arm but then I don’t like the color on my lips. I have had a really hard time finding lipsticks I love since I switched over to all non-toxic, lead-free brands. Your reviews have been really helpful. I also wanted to ask you where you got that beautiful deep red flower clip you were wearing in the Youtube episode on nontoxic lipsticks. It really gave a 50s glamour look.

    1. Hi Karen,
Thank you so much for your comment. I am so happy to hear that you ordered samples from both Zosimos and Vapour! I love them both so much and highly recommend them to everyone. It’s so great when companies offer samples. I think it’s the smartest idea. I had a hard time finding clean lipsticks when I switched over to non-toxic products as well but now I have found so many! Honeybee Gardens and Vapour are definitely my favorites. Oh that flower clip! You know, I am not sure where I got it from but it was most likely from either H&M, Forever 21 or a local store! I love flower clips. I feel like they add such a glamorous look whatever you are wearing. Thank you for the compliment and for your comment. I appreciate the feedback so much. ❤ ❤

  4. Hi Britanie, I’m not vegan, and not even vegetarian, but I do love animals. I don’t think it’s necessary to test on animals or use animal products in beauty products.
On another note, did you know DeVita now has a tinted moisturizer? I just saw it on their website, and I want to try. Have you?

    1. Hey Lynne,
While I completely agree with you on being against testing on animals I do use some products that contain animal-related ingredients such as beeswax, lanolin, etc. I am not for using products that came from an animal if the animal was harmed in the process. I completely see where you are coming from though!

I did not know that DeVita had a tinted moisturizer! I must try it. Thank you for letting me know this. I am going to go check it out now!

  5. Hi Britanie!
I am on the lookout for tinted moisturizer or foundation with spf. This sound really interesting. 🙂 About the color. Do you have yellow or pink undertones in your skin? I have a lot of pink undertones and having trouble finding a good color match. Do you think this could suit me?

  6. I need to order this! I have such a tough time finding a good tinted moisturizer that doesn’t break me out so I hope this works. I love your blog, thank you for reviewing so many green products!! I can spend too many hours just browsing here, it’s dangerous. 🙂
