I am so excited to be bringing this amazing new Detox Exfoliating Face Mask from the one and only Osmia Organics. I reviewed the Osmia Organics Protein Exfoliating Mask back in February and fell in love with it. When I heard that Sarah was working on another face mask and that she was including Manuka Honey as one of the key ingredients, I couldn’t wait to try this beautiful concoction, and let me say it was well worth the wait.

*This mask comes as a dry powder with a small, ceramic dish and stirring spatula, as pictured above.*

Description:

Three kinds of purifying clay, nourishing raw cacao and manuka honey, and toxin-removing activated bamboo charcoal are the key ingredients in this dual-purpose exfoliating mask.

How To Use:

It may be used weekly as an exfoliating paste – the organic, finely-ground walnut shells and olive leaf powders will gently resurface and condition the skin.  If left on for 15-20 minutes as a mask first, it will also pull impurities from the skin as it dries.  The raw cacao will soften the skin, as its natural caffeine tones and lifts.  Afterwards, step in the shower and softly massage the mask away, leaving behind smooth, soft, conditioned skin.

Note:

Due to the tightening action of clay, mild redness, especially in sensitive types, may occur for 15-20 minutes – if you are very sensitive, do a patch test on the inner arm first.

My Thoughts:

This mask is great for all skin types. I have very sensitive skin and this mask has never irritated me at all. My preferred way to apply this mask (and most masks in general) is with a foundation brush. I find it makes it easier to evenly distribute on the skin. I like to start out in problem areas; chin, nose and work from there until my entire face is covered (minus my eyes, of course). I let this beautiful chocolate-like mousse of a mask sit on my skin for about fifteen minutes. Within that time it starts to harden a bit and I start to feel a slight tingling feeling but nothing that is uncomfortable. I then add a splash of water to my face and gently exfoliate my skin with the mixture for up to one minute. I wash off everything with warm water and follow with a nourishing oil like coconut, almond or jojoba. It is very important to moisturize the skin after using any type of clay or face mask.

I love to use this mask once a week and find that once is enough to gently exfoliate my skin and to pull impurities. I always feel like my face looks fresher and feels tighter after using this mask. For $50.00 this mask is well worth the price for the quality of ingredients, packaging and the pure love that goes into the making of every product in this line. If you are a face mask fan, this is a must have. If you are someone who is just starting out with face masks, I would highly recommend this as it is the essential mask to have in your beauty cabinet!

Ingredients:

rhassoul cosmetic clay, fuller’s earth cosmetic clay, australian pastel pink clay, black walnut hull (juglans nigra) powder, bamboo activated charcoal powder, raw cacao (theobroma cacao) powder, raw manuka (leptospermum scoparium) honey powder, olive leaf (olea europaea) powder.

  1. Funny, it almost sounds like an ingredient sibling to May’s Problem Solver……
Britanie, could you do a giveaway with this? It sounds like an amazing product.

    1. Hey Ann – They do look similar but are very different. I love and recommend both of them. I would love to do another Osmia giveaway soon 🙂

  2. I have this mask, too! I have found it to be a little too good at pulling impurities, though — it tightens my skin a bit much and dries me out a tad. That said, I need to experiment with it more — leaving it on for less time and combining it with coconut oil instead of water for a little moisture. Great review and I LOVE the pics in this post. Very creative and always pretty! xoxo

    1. I would definitely try mixing it with some coconut oil! I do that with my May Problem Solver mask! It actually increases the benefits of the mask and it great for those with sensitive and/or dry skin. It’s funny because I have realllly sensitive and dry skin but this osmia mask has never dried me out. I also make sure to not leave it on for long and I always moisturize with an oil after washing it off. So happy you like my review, thanks so much for your input, love! xx
