Beauty Buzz | Stark Skincare Grapefruit Cleanse + Hydrate Balm

This is one product that I have been wanting to get my hands on for so long now. I was so excited to receive this balm which is handmade in Montreal by the founder of Stark Skincare, Jessica. Before even applying this dreamy balm to my face, I fell in love with the consistency and the smell! The consistency is so creamy and applies like a dream to the skin. It smells like fresh Grapefruit and instantly wakes me up in the morning. I love to use this as a deep cleansing treatment. I will put a small amount of this on my skin, massage it in and let it sit for 5-15 minutes and then I take a very warm wash cloth and put it on my face and let that sit for a minute, then I slowly start to wipe the balm residue off but I like to have some left over on my skin because it doubles as a moisturizer also! This balm is fantastic. The size and amount of product given for how little you need, combined with the brilliance and multi-tasking purposes of this product make it well worth the price of $40. This is also great for using on the lips, hands, hair, everywhere!! I love products that can be used for so many things and this is one of those products that you will find yourself using for all different needs. The scent of this is absolutely intoxicating and my skin feels like silk and smells like heaven after using this.

This product contains NO water and is Vegan, Gluten-Free and Certified Cruelty-Free.

A little more info on this delicious balm…

This highly nutritious, water-less balm has the unique concept of being both cleanser and hydrator, making life simple and beautiful. Similar to the “oil cleansing method” popular in Europe or the cold-creams our mothers and grandmothers used, this delicious balm melts away daily grime and dirt, replenishing your skin with healthy, antioxidant-rich plant-derived oils and butters! Next, the balm can be used as a moisturizer, alone or with Stark’s CYPRESS Purity + Defense oil (an especially luxurious treat for a night-time ritual).

How to Use

Use a pea sized amount, and warm between fingers. Massage into skin and let the nutritious oils and butters be soaked up before gently wiping away with a warm, wet cloth. You may splash with water if you like. Next, it can be used as a moisturizer for face, body, lips and hair! Use on dry elbows, parched lips or fly-away hair or as a great after-shave balm!

Grapefruit extract is cleansing and has astringent properties. Wonderful for occasionally problematic skin, also gentle enough for dry, sensitive skin. Has a wonderful, fresh aroma that is uplifting and invigorating. This balm smells absolutely mouth-watering.

Un-processed Shea butter and raw organic cocoa butter heal, soften and protect skin with a light, natural SPF. Both have a rich history of use in Africa, which is now backed by scientific studies, they are highly healing butters that can undo some of the damage done by the sun.

Virgin organic coconut oil, long used in the Ayurveda tradition, has anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties due to its high content of fatty acids.

Non-GMO soybean butter is chock full of isoflavones and stimulates collagen production. It is also rich in antioxidants and is an anti-inflammatory.

Organic camellia seed oil (same plant as green tea) and organic sweet almond oil are light, soothing and healing oils, and are known to slow the aging process.

This product is preservative-free, so please wash and dry hands before scooping product out and please do not get any water in the balm. Water and oil are not friends! 🙂 Use a clean teaspoon to scrape a small amount of product out, to prolong the life of your balm even longer. With proper handing, this product can stay fresh for up to 18 months.

  1. Yay! You got your hands on some Stark! I love the grapefruit smell but when I use it on my face I break out like nuts! (Seems anything with coconut does that to me!) Now I just use it after washing my hands a lot or on dry spots. I just ordered the Meadowfoam and can’t wait to try that out too!

    1. I did, finally! That’s so annoying that you break out. Coconut is super anti-bacterial so usually it helps immensely with breakouts. It is possible that you have a cleansing process when you use Coconut, meaning that your body is trying to purge out toxins and so you are breaking out before your skin gets better. Either that or maybe you have an allergy of some sort to coconut? It could also be the Cocoa butter which can cause irritation in some people. I love using it on my hands and lips and dry spots, too! I want to try it as a hair mask soon. I feel like it would smell delicious and leave my hair feeling SO soft! I want to try the Cypress oil next!

      1. Oh good point, maybe cocoa. I use an almond oil with lavender for cleansing now and don’t have any problems with that so who knows! Great post!

  2. glad you got your hands on some stark! i love this balm, and to linda’s earlier comment, one love organics makes an incredible balm, too. i like the idea of using it as a spot moisturizer for dry hands too!

    1. the one love organics balm sounds wonderful also but I am very much in love with the grapefruit balm – it just has so many uses, I keep finding more ways to use it and the scent is just unreal! It’s perfect for dry hands, lips and dry patches on the face. I am tempted to use it as a hair mask next 🙂

  3. i love stark’s skincare i have tried everything except the argan oil lip balm and the new body oil my favorites are the balm, green tea mask, and oil in that order. they all smell amazing i just do not like the toner other then spraying it on my face after doing the mask it does nothing for my face other then relieve redness which i could do with some aloe vera jucie mixed with some tea tree oil for blemishes. the only way i liked the toner was adding tea tree oil to it and for the money i feel like i should’n’t be adding anything lol that is just me though. everything else is great i have to admit.

    1. I am eager to try more of Stark’s products, especially the Green Tea Mask and the oil. Do you like the mask? I hear you on needing to add extra ingredients into certain toners. I like to make my own toners because I am so specific about what works for me when it comes to toners and I always like to add little ingredients in, or take out some depending on how my skin is feeling. Toners are so easy to make I usually don’t bother spending money on buying any!

  4. Unfortunately I can’t use their balm as a cleanser as it’s too rich for my skin. My face broke out from it. Your jar looks creamy. Mine has beads in it.

What works for me is both their mask & face oil. Their face oil has a really clean upscale scent. The face mask works really well with yogurt. I’ll purchase those two again.
