The last days of August.

I wanted to update as I have been on Long Island for the past week visiting my boyfriend and I purposely did not bring my own computer so that I could have a little break from technology! I think it’s important to put your phone down and get rid of the computer and television for awhile and pick up a book, spend time with loved ones and immerse yourself in nature. I always feel more inspired and creative when I simply take a step back from everything and just breathe.

I am really looking forward to Fall arriving. It is my favorite season of all time. I love it so much. I can feel it in my bones when it’s nearing. I start to crave the smell in the air and leaves changing colors. I am going to take out all of my scarves and boots and leggings. I could live off of warm apple sauce, teas, squashes, ginger cookies, sweet potatoes and soups in Fall.

I noticed that since taking these Ginger capsules with my meals everyday that it has really improved my digestion. I have Gastroparesis which means “Paralized Stomach” and so my food takes a lot longer to digest which in turn makes it extremely uncomfortable every time I eat. Ginger is known for stimulating digestion and also increases the assimilation process. It also is great for nausea and general stomach discomforts. I have been taking 1-2 capsules with every big meal and notice that I am not as bloated or uncomfortable after I eat like I normally am. I did have a set back yesterday after going to the movies to see The Dark Knight Rises which I put off seeing for awhile out of respect for the victims of the Colorodo Shootings but I finally went and decided to eat Popcorn which was a huge mistake. Popcorn is hard to digest for anyone let alone someone with a compromised digestive system. Needless to say I was in so much discomfort the entire night and even today I am still feeling the negative effects of that darn bag of popcorn! I did not even eat the entire thing but the moral of the story is no matter how badly I want to be “normal” and be able to eat things like Popcorn, especially when at the movies that it’s not worth being in so much discomfort afterwards. I can find alternative things to bring along with me. I learned my lesson!

On to all things love,

This is not a bad way to wake up in the morning…

I still can’t believe it was almost a year ago that we rescued Tayo. He has been such a blessing in my life. It’s hard to imagine how I ever lived without him.

I went to Witches Brew (my favorite tea place on Long Island) a few days ago and saw my best friend Natasha. We had a great time catching up. I also went to her house a few days later and we had a little tea party outside until we started getting attacked by mosquitos which always seems to happen to us! We took our tea party inside and listening to music and talked. I love spending time with people who I can just do casual things with and yet feel like the time literally flies by. I also saw one of my dear friends Danielle whom I hadn’t seen in way too long. She made me the most delicious cobb salad and cut two sunflowers from her garden for me. I love my friends so much.

Natasha introduced me to this tea and oh my god it is divine!! She said they only sell it around christmas time so once it is back I am going to be sure to stock up! It’s like dessert in a cup!

almond tea, cobb salad, fresh sunflowers from the garden.

I brought minimal makeup with me this time as I usually over pack way too many beauty items!! I wore this smokey eye look the other night but other than that I haven’t been wearing much makeup at all. I have really loved using my Jane Iredale Smooth Affair Facial Primer (I did an entire review on it here) and Physicians Formula Talc-Free Mineral Powder and some Buxom Lipgloss and that’s about it!

I am testing out some more products from Osmia Organics as I have been loving everything I have tried of theirs so far. I will be doing another review on the newer products I have once I am back home but so far my skin has been reacting amazingly to it. I will also be posting an update on my everyday skin care routine as well as a nightly skin care routine as well. If you’d like me to do a video on it as well please let me know!

xoxo,

Britanie
